I'd give readyandsold.com a look if you're going with the Audioengine 5s. I got mine from them and received it next day. I think they're actually the cheapest place to get the A5 in Canada. I got it for $369 + taxes and free shipping.

There is a sub out on the A2. I have the A5. Love them. The only thing I hate is the power saving feature.

I'm going to suggest the Audioengine 2. Very similar size to the bose. Maybe a bit smaller. The sound quality is very good considering the size.

I haven't heard them but from a design standpoint they look like a companion 3 series II imitation.

I went from the promedia 2.1 to Audioengine 5. All I can say is what a difference.
