    Chameleon DAC listening and modifications

TDA1543 is the Dac chip. They use 8 of them in parallel, the Chameleon used 16 in parallel. those chips are fed straight to output. They sound great, mine is modified. Many people on these threads thought these units are top notch. In my limited experience with Dacs, this one sounds best.

    Chameleon DAC listening and modifications

These DACs were always sold on ebay, look up teradak dac on ebay. I could not find any chameleon dacs there, the ones that are there are the 8 DAC chip version. I have been running one of those units for the past decade. The threads here about the Valab NOS DAC and the Chameleon DAC fizzled...

compared to regular ubuntu, SE is excellent, way better implementation of pulse audio,    i have heard different things about other processes interfering with sound quality,  i have a gizmo called an ultravox, it isolates the usb signal from the computer power, so that helps     if...

    Chameleon DAC listening and modifications

Does the ultravox not work with the hiface and the off ramp  because of the need for asynchronous information flow?    Assuming the adum/ultravox only sends traffic one way....what if you used two adums, one going each way, could that be done?

    Chameleon DAC listening and modifications

Quote: i hardly think that is neccassary,  there is a usb input on the chameleon, so usb talk applies here, people are always chasing any computer related talk to it's own forum, i hardly think that is a useful approach on a forum that is seeing 2 or 3 posts a day,    if there is a post...

    Chameleon DAC listening and modifications

Quote:  i would like to see what happens if Newk puts an a/b adapter at the off ramp, and a cable to the computer   i also don't know what kind of a power supply is attached to your ultravox Newk,  i think people recommended a 'wal mart' power supply,   i am sure it works..- and i...

    Chameleon DAC listening and modifications

i like the ultravox, less mush, more extended highs i experienced no loss of soundstage or imaging or channel seperation   i have a short cable from the ultravox to the dac and the longer cable to the computer, i figure pre isolator cable noise is going to be removed by the ultravox  ...
