Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)

Thanks for the replies, guys. And yeah, I do agree that I'm probably going to only find glowing reviews in the headphone's thread, but I figured it was worth a shot! Honestly, I probably will end up getting them at some point. My big fear is that I will buy the Sundara and then in a month or...

Hifiman Sundara (HE400i upgraded, around $500)

I'm strongly considering asking for these for Christmas, or buying them myself if no one else does (!!!). My current headphone is the Sennheiser HD600, which I love, but I'm always looking for something else to complement it. I have a Schiit Magni/Modi 2 Uber stack in terms of source and amping...

Huge Comparison of [Almost] All Grado Headphones -- Post Your Own Comparisons Here (thanks, @giogio!)

Is it wrong that I want every model in Grado's line-up? I just love how they have so many different little steps, even though I can imagine the differences between an SR-80 and an SR-125 are almost infinitesimally small.

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

First off, I'm very happy to see this thread popping lately! Awesome purchase. These are, after my Grado SR-60s, my first real purchase in the realm of hi-fi headphones, and I love them. I agree with you that they aren't nearly as hard to drive as others say they are. I can listen to them at an...

Hmm...those are pretty nifty. I'm bookmarking the page. I also like the little feet you put at the bottom of the stack, since I think I lost the ones that originally came with my gear. To be honest, I'm fine with mine as it is now, but I'm staying with my parents during nursing school, so if...

That's definitely on purpose. I worried about those cables breaking faster connecting the amp to the DAC, since they have to bend more when the Magni and Modi (both Uber 2s) are stacked. I feel better having it set up this way, even if it probably doesn't matter.

No matter how many more headphones I buy in the future (and I probably won't buy anymore for a while), I will NEVER get rid of my HD600s! I love 'em.

Not as fancy as what you guys have in here, but it works for me!

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

You know how people are on HeadFi in terms of justifying the amounts of money they spend in their heads by saying small changes in amping and DACs make a huge difference sound-wise. As you said, only way to confirm this is with an honest blind test, but then people might start feeling bad about...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

I've always wanted to get more Grados, since that's what I started with with the SR-60s. There's just so many models! I appreciate that with Sennheiser, once you get to a certain price point, there are only SO MANY models, although they've added more in recent years with the HD660s and all...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

What are your other headphones, out of curiosity? I have Sony MDR-7506s and that's about it right now. I used to have Grado SR-60s, but those bit the dust, which is why I got the HD600s. Also considering getting a HFM Sundara one of these days.

Thanks for the advice. I will start trying it with the high gain setting and compare.

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

So I use a Schiit Magni 2 Uber amp with my HD600s. I basically always keep it on the low gain setting, since that gets the volume up as far as I need it when I'm listening to my lossless files burned from CDs. Is there any advantage to using the high gain setting, or is that just if you can't...
