[FiiO KA17] Mini desktop-class amp, flagship dongle is officially released!
I'm interested in a USB dongle with line-out capability for connecting to my office's active desktop speakers. Currently owning a Q7, I'd appreciate a compact device to substitute the Mac Mini/iPhone DAC, especially one that supports MQA. I wonder how many others share this specific need.- duyu

FiiO Q7 Portable Desktop-Class DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread
Yes, I used the stock cable. I'm happy with Tidal now. To find out the issue of Apple Music, you can compare the same song (one with a master version) using the Macbook (and with a correct Midi setup). Time to say goodbye to Apple Music.- duyu

FiiO Q7 Portable Desktop-Class DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread
I've tried both iPad (usbc) and iPhone (camera kit). It is the same. I think you're right that there is a default DAC bypass for the iPhone. So it is probably Apple Music's software issue. The "master" version of the same song wouldn't send to the external DAC, unless you use the MacBook. My...- duyu

FiiO Q7 Portable Desktop-Class DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread
Thanks, Currawong. You're right that the output is bit-perfect. I've tried other songs with 96k, it shows that correctly. So I guess the distortion is not caused by downsampling, but the decoding work didn't bypass iphone or ipad's internal dac. However, there is no problem using the MacBook...- duyu

FiiO Q7 Portable Desktop-Class DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread
It doesn't work for both iPhone and Android. It is clearly downsampled even if the high-res is selected. For Android phones, even if it shows 192k sample rate on Q7, it is clearly downsampled. I saw there is some discussion about making the external dac as the native one, bypassing the internal...- duyu

FiiO Q7 Portable Desktop-Class DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread
I need some help! Are there Apple Music subscribers here who are as well android users? I tested both iPhone and iPad, and also on an Android phone. The music is clearly downsampled and with a lot of distortion as compared connecting via a Macbook Pro (with proper Midi setup). Is there a way I...- duyu

FiiO HiFi desktop active speaker User survey (1) Is the Bluetooth function necessary? Or should we place costs on sound quality as much as possible?
Just saw James's FB post on SP3. I think SP3 must compete with the iLoud speakers, which is often selling at USD199. It's a tough game. Bluetooth is a MUST. This give SP3 a chance to compete with some of the standalone bluetooth speakers. This market, I think, is less mature. My two cents. -

I'm also a fan of monitor+red. Best combination for vocal so far. For orchestras, I prefer pop+black. Wide soundstage and better separation. Looking forward to detailed reviews on the filters.- duyu
