Yes I agree it does sound better amped, I think it still sounds good without an amp though.

You made a good choice. The akg 240s dont need an amp (they only req 55 ohms). I think you'll like them they are really good headphones. I own a pair myself.

You definitely need an amp for the akg k701s. I tried plugging my akg k701s into my ipod and it sounded awful. My grado 325is sounded ALOT better. So if you're not going to use an amp dont even bother getting them.

Nah It was just a spur of the moment thing. I was actually looking at a different headphone and on the related list I saw the hd595. I went ahead and called the company and they said it was an error so I went ahead and canceled the order.
