Recommend a low profile IEM for a motorcyclist
I don't usually listen to music when I ride, but I'm planning an 1,800 mile trip in a couple months and I can't spend 30 hours on the road singing to myself. I've tried some different IEMs in the past, but everything so far has popped out when I put my helmet on. I'm looking for an inexpensive...- dirkgently

The 10 biggest lies in audio
To be fair, he did list an exception for burn-in with speakers, although I don't buy the people who talk about burn-in of several hundred hours to get the sweet spot in their equipment.- dirkgently

Songs that make your headphone WOOOOOW!!!
I love using Sigur Ros tracks to demo headphones because they're so complex, offering something different for every type of sound profile. Specifically, I use "Svefn-g-englar" and "Olsen Olsen" from the album Agaetis Byrjun; I find both to be incredibly beautiful but for different reasons. On...- dirkgently

To EQ or not to EQ?
I like the sound profile of my Grado cans, so I usually don't adjust the EQ.- dirkgently

Best headphones for bass under $200 buyers guide UPDATED
I'm currently just getting into electronica (right now mostly euphoric/progressive trance), so I'm considering getting something with more punch than my Grado SR80i. Also, everyone needs to at least once in their life experience Sigur Ros through bassy headphones with a wide soundstage...- dirkgently

Need help identifying DT 770 pro model (32 or 80 ohm)
You can tell using the resistance setting on a multimeter. Touch the negative probe to the sleeve of the plug and touch the positive probe to the tip. It should tell you how many ohms.- dirkgently

How to deal with long cable
I just loop the excess cable right above the plug and stuff it into my pocket. A garbage bag twist tie works, too.- dirkgently

[Head-Fi PSA] The impedance of a headphone is not how hard it is to drive.
Very good write up! I have to admit, being new to this pursuit, I wasn't really aware of the relationship between resistance and sensitivity.- dirkgently

So I tried the SR-60s today.
I love my SR80i's for the genres I listen to. But those perceived shortcomings are why so many people mod their Grados, myself included.- dirkgently

Difference Between Grado SR80i and Allessandro MS1
http://www.head-fi.org/t/573981/grado-sr80i-vs-alessandro-ms1i-a-review A user did a direct comparison between these two not too long ago. The Alessandro does use different drivers, it seems, but the actual differences between Grados and Alessandros are a trade secret between the two...- dirkgently
