DT880 PRO pad experiment, Velour vs Softskin.
Ater using my DT880 PRO's for over 10 months everyday for at least 6 hours the velour pads changed in shape and sound, so i decided to get 2 new sets of pads for my trusty 880's , first pair to go on are the softskins, these are from Beyerdynamic, BUT these are the ones who have only 1 hole in...- Derpus-Maximus

€600 (800$) for a barely used HD800, is it a good deal?, and what did you pay for your HD800's??
I was browsing the Dutch counterpart ( marktplaats ) of Ebay.nl and i found an add that offered a second hand ( barely used ) HD800 for €600, pictures of the HD800 and its box and even the receipt, everything looked as good as new. The same seller also offers some other high end cans, all for...- Derpus-Maximus

Sennheiser HD 558's too 'laid back' and Denon AH-D2000's too 'exciting'. Is there a happy medium sound signature?
So deep bass as in overwhelming or subtle and distinguishable?, upper midrange speaks for itself. Here is a link to the frequency response graphs of the 558 vs d2000 vs DT880 600 ohm ( i now use DT880 pro 250 Ohm )...- Derpus-Maximus

You say you want a laid back/clinical and exciting/bassy and trebly headphone, but sometimes people mean completely different things when using these terms. Someone i know loved my HD558 sound in the first 5 hours, i hated it cause it gave me headaches, after the mod he hated them and i...- Derpus-Maximus

Sennheiser HD580 + Essence STX
I recently bough the STX as well, and i got the Beyerdynamic DT 880 PRO 250Ohm, and i also came from the ALC892! The STX makes a HUGE difference, much much louder, and much more clearer/cleaner sounding, i had to re-listen to all my music, cause now i can hear things i could not hear before...- Derpus-Maximus

Xonar STX + DT880 PRO, what to expect > i come from HD558+ALC892 onboard!!!! free cookies
I really like that switchable gain option, 64-250 is way too loud even on my DT880, setting it to 0-64 is best for me now, i do notice the "airy" sound of the DT880's much better, perhaps a little bit on the bright side, but i have only used them for 3 hours now. The bass is not so damn...- Derpus-Maximus

Xonar STX + DT880 PRO, what to expect > i come from HD558+ALC892 onboard!!!! free cookies
Well i just put it in, and i tested it with my HD558, i set the gain to 64-300 and i had my volume at 10, it felt like it was on 100, so freaking loud , but CLEAR, and i can notice a HUGE difference between the onboard ( i should have done this years ago,....... ) Even with the HD558 the bass...- Derpus-Maximus

Xonar STX + DT880 PRO, what to expect > i come from HD558+ALC892 onboard!!!! free cookies
So today i got myself something nice to play with, the DT 880 PRO ( 250 Ohm ) and the Asus Xonar Essence STX. I am happy i took the PRO version, many people complain about the clamp force, but its fits me perfectly, the normal version would have been too loose on my head... First thing i...- Derpus-Maximus

TEST: Based on these frequency graphs, which headphone would you choose? 3 graphs included.
You are correct. I compared my HD558 with foammod to some other higher end cans, graph wise, some are very similar, sound wise completely different. That is why i am curious what people will think when they see graphs like this. But i am a total noob when it comes to sound/hifi, and my...- Derpus-Maximus

I would go for the IE400. No, none of the graphs contain, a TF10 or a SE535- Derpus-Maximus

So here are 3 frequency graphs, that each include 4 different headphones, depending on the graph, which one would you choose, i have removed the names to make it more challenging. If you have made your decision please explain why you would pick this certain headphone. Graph 1 : ...- Derpus-Maximus
