    Anyone found a super-quiet internal Blu-Ray drive?

I use http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136241 I must say, I was  impressed by its quietness. I have both a DVD burner and that blu-ray and I started using the blu-ray exclusively since it was way more quite.   I cannot comment on ripping for I have not done a...

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum

O great gurus of Head-Fi,   Ive been going wide and far to find a decent pair of headphone for my mother. Taking to long to her taste she decided she will just go with the bose quietcomfort 15 (over-ear). Knowing Bose's reputation I kinda grinded my teeth a little.   I am in an odd...

The Xonar Essence STX Q/A, tweaking, impressions thread

Well the pin out need to be similar for the circuit to work properly. So you would need to check the new OPAMP vs the old OPAMP to see if the pin are the same thing. If yes no modification required, if no ....   Although most Opamp packaging usually sport the same pinout for simplicity sake...

    Discrete PC for living room

No. Think of a NAS like a home for harddrives, but what is actually on the drive need to be decoded by something (IE: a computer). Also a drive is a bunch of zeroes put together. The equipement you are asking would need to read the drive, look for audio compatible files and stream it. but then...

Another A2 vs AV40 or whatever <$200 speakers comparison

Well I am not sure if the "line out" signal out the back is actually amplified or not. If its not then yea, it should work, but if it is, it could seriously damage the speaker.

    Under $200 computer speakers—Music only

You might be asking the wrong forum subsection. usually ppl that look for audio system for computer are looking for small speakers that are often cheaper then 10K.   Way cheaper then 10K you could buy a set of adam A7x with a sub. those are supposed to be extremly good. (of course I would...

Another A2 vs AV40 or whatever <$200 speakers comparison

No, it is an extremely bad idea to plug an amplified signal to an active speaker. I wouldn't even try it.

    Discrete PC for living room

Do not be fool by USB3, even though it look neat on paper nothing use it and can use it to its optimal performance. its like building a 5 line hightway with a line reserved for 200 km/h cars yet they dont exist. ( I know the exemple is silly but it's a simple concept)   usb hub? like this ...

    First set of bookshelf speakers

(just answering your question while I still poke around)   Usually between 12inch and 10 inch. (for a speaker that size) If the speaker doesn't have enough room behind the bass will sound boomy because the cone cannot move like its suppose to.   You technically wouldn't need an amp for...
