Actually, I don't mind getting a portable (I was going for the Mini-DAC), but I do want more connection options on the machine.

    DAC/AMP in a box for ~$500

Thanks for the inputs guys! I'm most concern in the DAC part of the combo, sound good is a must For connection wise, USB is not necessary since most of the USB connect cannot deliver full 192kHz single which limits a lot. Work as a pre-amp is certainly a plus.

How does a LDM+ compare to my Reciever?

LDM+ is a quite good budget portable amp. LD2+, in the other hand, is a home tube amp, which is pretty good for the price. Since I have both, I can tell you they are very different. LD2+ is very warm which I mostly listen to Jazz and vocals. LDM+ is quite cold compare to the LD2+ and I...

Budget Stereo Receivers VS Budget DACs

Somehow I got the impression that a Home theater doesn't has a good CD DAC, but with a better DVD decoder, is it true?

Budget Stereo Receivers VS Budget DACs

I have been hunting for a Budget DAC to complete my entry level rig. Been wondering, if a branded stereo receiver has the same DAC function would I be disappointed if I get a stereo receiver instead of a DAC in the same price range? Well, for the record, I'm looking in a real budget: <$200...
