Israel Meet
If you're talking as soon as this month, I could probably do any day outside Friday/Saturday. I'm on holiday til the 1st of Iyar. Maybe the day before might suit more people instead?- Darkbeat

Israel Meet
Next Wednesday as in the 23rd? I'm only arriving back in Israel that evening, so I probably wouldn't be able to make it.- Darkbeat

Israel Meet
I know of at least one other SR-009 in Israel and he has the Blue Hawaii SE for good measure I see you're an Audeze owner, so I'll maybe bring along my toxic cable from my old LCD-2 to let you see (hear) the difference. I'm in full time study in Yeshiva, so days/times that doesn't...- Darkbeat

Fischer Amps: FA-4 E XB - Rhapsody series (3/4/5 drivers upcoming)
I don't find the bass on the FA-4E XB excessive in the slightest simply because it's so well balanced with the mids and highs. For me it's impossible to compare the amps to IEMs with roll off like the SD2/SD3.- Darkbeat

Fischer Amps: FA-4 E XB - Rhapsody series (3/4/5 drivers upcoming)
Fischer Amps FA-4E XB + Heaven Variant = Happy face Someone asked if the Amps are sibilant, not in the slightest. They have sparkle and undoubtedly some emphasis up top, but despite being quite prone to sibilance, I never have any issues with the treble at all. They are just an incredibly...- Darkbeat

Fischer Amps: FA-4 E XB - Rhapsody series (3/4/5 drivers upcoming)
Loving the FA-4E XB, every time I put them on I'm shocked at how good they sound. I much prefer the sound over almost every other sub-$1k IEM I've heard and some over that (TG334s, for example), it's just an amazingly balanced yet thrilling performer across the board. Surprised...- Darkbeat

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
For what it's worth, I much prefered the sound of the Stax SR-009 on a lowly amp like the SRM-323s than the Abyss on a Mjolnir. I can live with slightly less bass impact, but I can't live with unrestrained, strident treble energy (see: distortion) and a mid-fi midrange on a $5.5k headphone. Your...- Darkbeat

New Abyss planar magnetic headphone
In the end I feel the Abyss is a very polarizing headphone. The bass was far better than I could have imagined, the treble far worse and the midrange fair to middling. Whether it's worth the price or not will really depend on the individual, their tastes and the music they listen to. ...- Darkbeat

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
You triple posted with quotes designed to enflame in which the bass of the Abyss was compared favorably to that of the SR-009. That's fine, but when someone else points out that the Abyss simply isn't as balanced and struggles to reproduce the highs on the same level, you act as if this...- Darkbeat

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
Subjective opinions can easily be backed up by objective measurements and data. The AB-1266s are amazing headphones in so many ways, but they aren't without their flaws. The "headphone A is better than headphone B at point C" argument was started by you on the previous page, vis, the Abyss's...- Darkbeat

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
He isn't wrong about the bass, but the Stax absolutely destroy the Abyss in treble and do a better job in the (slightly distant sounding) mids. Keep in mind he basically said the exact same thing in his LCD-3 review too (and crowned the LCD-3 the best headphone in the World as a result)- Darkbeat

**MrSpeakers Mad Dog: Impressions and Discussion Thread**
Using "musical" as a description for a headphone is so vague it's practically invisible. Personally I'm really liking the Mad Dog 3.2s, they have exceptional tonal balance and are very easy on the ears, but with good extension and impact at the extremes. They aren't going to dethrone my...- Darkbeat

The JPS Labs: Abyss AB-1266 Impressions Thread
Thanks Tyll, some good stuff here. Your opinion seems surprisingly positive overall, though the treble issues you report are enough to make me balk given the exorbitant pricing. Also, I must say these have easily the most underwhelming measurements I've witnessed in a headphone over $1k...- Darkbeat
