Review by 'DapperDan' on item 'Sennheiser HD 219 Headphones'

[I have edited this review after +1 year of near daily usage.]   Pros: First off, these headphones are EXTREMELY light. They don't weigh a thing on your head, don't clamp hard at all, and are just generally very comfortable. They sit well and adjust in several different ways to fit heads of...

    ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod

There really aren't.  Someone posted a bit of one earlier in the forum, but it does not detail anything. I am thinking of doing this mod to a different pair of phones. As much as I would like it for my M50's, I honestly don't wish to risk ruining them. If I find the perfect pair I wish to...

    ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod

If you are looking for good velour ear-pads, Shure HPAEC940 Replacement Velour Ear Pads work wonders. They are not perfect, but until Audio-Technica makes some, they work fabulously.

    ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod

Quote: Sweet! that is a great idea! I noticed that your jack is sticking our a little farther than many others. Did you end up cutting the housing for the speaker? Or did you leave it intact and just have the jack not intersect with it? (Sorry for all of the questions. When I do this to my...

Quote: That looks fabulous! How did you manage to keep the jack in place? Did you use an epoxy or glue?

What specs do you look for in a good quality headphone?

Quote: Very True sir ^^ And I would hope that whoever is specifically looking for headphones would do their research such as this! I don't think you should take ANY company selling a product for their "word". But I do stand by my statements. Again, just being an audiophile/ voice...

What specs do you look for in a good quality headphone?

I hate to see such lack of attention to the Frequency Response. Yes, on most cheap headphones, these numbers are typically skewed, with some even claiming to have the standard 20-20k Hz when they don't. However, people often say "You can't hear it, so why would you care about the frequency...

Quote:   That turned out GORGEOUS!   I almost got the white headphones, but all of my equipment is black >.< You did a great job. Did you make the cable or did you order from somewhere?

    ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod

Quote: Thanks for this!  WAAAAAAY better than the deals I have been finding.   Also: I tried this mod out on a throw-away pair of headphones and the left side worked at first, but then cut out.  I had some issued with it before. Could this just be a bad soldering?

Quote: I had NEVER soldered or messed with electronics before. I suggest practicing before if you're a complete novice like me. But once you learn the basics of the idea, it's ACTUALLY pretty simple.

    ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod

So, I decided to perform a proof-of-concept on an old broken pair of headphones as I never have done this before.  After doing this one, I still do not yet feel 100% certain of my abilities.    So, I am going to buy a pair of cheap headphones and try to really get down the technique of...

Quote: thank you for the quick response!  So, I have to ask: What was the hardest thing for you to do?  (Also: Do yours still work? Did you notice any sound loss [just curious]?)

    ATH-M50 Removable Cable Mod

So, forum, I am torn.  I LOVE my ATH-M50 headphones. They are perfect for my needs. Well.. Almost. The cable is a little heavy and often gets more in my way than anything else.  So, I have found two options:  1.) I KNOW what parts I would buy (Thanks to this forum). Because I don't...
