Sleek SA6 New Braided Replacement Cable
I recently discovered that Sleek has several new replacement cables for the SA6 in-ear headphones. It is a braided cable, there are two versions of the right-angled connector cable, one with a microphone and I believe iPod controls and the other without controls or microphone. I had issues with...- Cybrsrch1

Love the new look of head-fi
Not a big fan of the new look if 30% of my screen is advertisements, forced advertising reminds me of commercial TV, where you are force-fed advertisers, everything goes back to maximizing profit I guess, greed is a strong temptation. Would be nice to have a forum free of commercial harassment.- Cybrsrch1

Cable problem
These are the best price I've found on line http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/607987-REG/Sleek_Audio_Replacement_Cable_for_SA6.html, not sure if the angled connector would work on the SA1's or not, might be awkward, since the wireless setup works with both models I'm assuming the plug is the...- Cybrsrch1

Totally Agree. Ray is an engineering Audio Genius, his designs, the execution and implementation with the best parts, his testing and golden ear, and with the Dark Star you are seeing some of Rays finest work, I have an RSA Predator, its a Jewel of an amp, I love the sound, it has a life time...- Cybrsrch1

To EQ or not to EQ?
I prefer to listen when I have time, I'M sure if I had more time and was in some way unhappy with what I was hearing I would use EQ, if it was easy and possible on my portable rig, but for me it not very practical. I do appreciate the responses, and perhaps I came off like a jerk, I apologize. I...- Cybrsrch1

To EQ or not to EQ?
Geeze, sorry to offend, reread my original post, I do use EQ in my car, but am quite happy with my headphone setup atm, and prefer no EQ, period, Im not dismissive, or narrow minded, I have my own opinion, and that's my right, perhaps talking down to others or just feeling you haven't stressed...- Cybrsrch1

What's the difference between a 'chip' based amp and a 'discrete' amp?
Apache is a 3k 2 piece unit, Ray in a genius IMHO, not sure if that's the one you are referring to, I think most if not all of Ray's Amps have a chip of some type, but also use heaps of discrete parts. Cheers- Cybrsrch1

To EQ or not to EQ?
Id say the more you have to EQ, the more it indicates your setup has issues you have to correct for, or possibly you may have some hearing loss and EQ to compensate, generally speaking a good system playing hi quality sources wont require EQ, but music is personal and as long as you enjoy the...- Cybrsrch1

What's the difference between a 'chip' based amp and a 'discrete' amp?
Many discrete designs will include very hi quality parts like Dale Vishay .1% resistors, panasonic caps etc, here's a quote off Ray Samuels site referring to some of the parts he uses in his builds http://www.raysamuelsaudio.com/products/predator. The hi quality parts will help keep you amp...- Cybrsrch1

Bose OE - worth the dollars?
No Bose is worth even a 90% discount, if someone offered me a free pair I'd turn them down, don't support such a pos company, over hyped products with terrible quality and sound, so may other great choices out there, no one who is serious about audio would consider Bose. Bose wont even allow big...- Cybrsrch1

Two questions to you all
are you asking us to post our ages or to guess on what we think the average age is on this forum ? I'm 53, but if I had to guess on an average, maybe 35 to 40 ish, but perhaps with the explosion in this hobby, the age might be under 30. I recently had my hearing tested and everything checked...- Cybrsrch1

Need some help purchasing a decent headphone under 100 dollars (CDN)
Look around and see if you can find a grado dealer in your area, the sr60i and sr80i are under 100$, if you like the sound, Grado has a great product line and moving up in models gives you constant improvements in sound quality. I personally own a pair of sr325i's and I love them. Perhaps there...- Cybrsrch1
