What happened to me was I started to get cutouts in my left earpiece. I first put it back in the case because that's what typically fixes the sort of thing. But no, was still there. Disable re-enable Bluetooth, still there. Forget device, re-pair. Now one ear was entirely silent! Factory reset...

I had a weird situation where the buds created separate BT connections, right and left. It turns out to fix it I needed to make sure they were disconnected from all devices and then do a reset. I figured that out myself but somebody did get back to me in a few days with the same info.
