1964 Ears
@fueltank I have first generation quads (which I was told are much warmer than later revisions) - and these are like a scaled up version but with noticeably more clarity in the highs and mids as well as sharper imaging and a wider soundstage. The bass is also arranged in a different manner. I...- creamsoda

JDS O2+ODAC
I'm in the market for a o2+odac, however, it looks like yours requires a cable looping from the back to the front; defeating the purpose of having a single case unit. That's probably why there hasn't been much interest. I'd personally rather either having o2 and odac be completely separate or...- creamsoda

1964 Ears
I use the V6 stage with my iPhone 5 as well, but I much prefer listening out of my Audinst (HUD-MX1). I'm not a believer in cables and amps making improvements to sound, but the sound is indeed noticeably different between the two (I would definitely be able to tell them apart in a blind test)...- creamsoda

1964 Ears
re-edited the original post because i forgot to mention there's more midbass and less subbass compared to the quads. or just less subbass leading to the perception of more midbass. oops!- creamsoda

1964 Ears
no status updates, i patiently waited for exactly one month (they received impressions and payment sept 18th, shipped today oct 18th), and they simply sent a fedex tracking notification email with nothing else. i decided that i could wait and it would be best to not use up their man-hours...- creamsoda

1964 Ears
wow, i love the thorough response, thanks!! which earphones do you recommend to people with different tastes, i.e. strengths and weaknesses of the v6s, se846, jh13 freqphase? for me, i want much better imaging (than my quads). detail and lush shure mids are definitely things that i look...- creamsoda

1964 Ears
Hey TimOgawa, I see you have the V6-Stage universal demo. Just wondering if you had any impressions on how they are imaging, soundstage, and instrumental separation wise compared to the Quads (which i currently have) and the v6 (the comparison that most people will be looking at). Or any...- creamsoda

1964 Ears
coming from someone who has experienced similar, for two impressions, don't worry about it. my audiologist pushes the dams way past my second bend (for a great mold) and the tissues are sensitive there. i guess it was like a dull sting but nothing unbearable, maybe worth a small wince. if the...- creamsoda

hey lauraar90, just wondering what day you got the confirmation from 1964 that they added your order to the queue after receiving impressions & payment. i think it would be really helpful to all who are anxiously waiting for their orders to have a more accurate ETA!- creamsoda

1964 Ears
i won't be able to answer that for you, but i when i compared my quads to the um3x, the quads were incredibly v-shaped compared to the um3x, which by comparison was boosted in the mids by quite a bit. you could also either say the um3x had recessed treble or the quads had boosted treble, most...- creamsoda

JH Audio JH5pro thread
i take it that, both of you may be biased if your opinions are that polarized? my friend was floored by trying my quads, and i have mostly positive things to say about my 1964 quads. doesn't really mean anything...- creamsoda

Westone ES5
could it be your own ears? try it across multiple iems, and switch sides / cables too. i ran frequency sweeps on my own ears with multiple iems and flipped channels. my left ear is down at least couple of dB around 9khz-10khz due to drumming for years with the hi hat killing my left ear over time.- creamsoda

1964 Ears Quad "Q", a throrough (and long) review
i heard the pro900 back to back against the quads a couple days ago, and i have to say i miss out on the mids with the pro900, the bass and treble presence make the mids shrink back by comparison. i like the se535, srh1840, westone 4, beyer t1s, but the pro900s wouldn't be my cup of tea if were...- creamsoda
