AEON, MrSpeakers' New Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphone

Thanks. I did and they already responded, saying they're sending me replacements. Kudos to them.

AEON, MrSpeakers' New Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphone

Whelp! The thread on one of the clamps that holds the leather to the nitinol headband got stripped and won't hold the clamp in place. How screwed am I (pun intended)? Any way to fix it? I'd like to avoid glueing the thing together... Thanks.

AEON, MrSpeakers' New Closed Back Planar Magnetic Headphone

Hey folks, any tips on cleaning the white tuning filters? I assume they aren't machine-washable and I don't want to order a whole new set just to use one pair.

[FiiO FA1] Single Balanced Armature In-Ear Monitors, Knowles Customized BA Driver, DLP 3D Printing Technology,Detachable MMCX Cable

Hi @Brooko, question for you. Been comparing your measurement graphs of the FA1 and the FH5 one here. On the FH5 700Hz is 0dB, 50Hz is at +8dB, 2.2kHz is +9db and 7kHz is +6dB. For the FA1 we have 0db for 800Hz, 60Hz is at +7dB, 2.8kHz is at +8dB and 6-7kHz is at +8dB. What I see is that the two...

FiiO FH5 - Quad Driver Hybrid In-Ear Monitors || Knowles Balanced Armature Drivers

I'll admit I was one of those people. I really thought I heard a difference initially. A week later decided to put the grilles back on and didn't notice any change. They've stayed on since then.

Wore them on a 7-hour flight yesterday and was sitting right next to the engines. They isolate slightly less than my IEMs (Fiio FH5) but I would say it's adequate. If you want anything better you would have to get a NC headphone.

With either set of pads the Noirs at $200 are worth it if you're not looking for a "reference" sound sig. Personally I wouldn't pay $300 for the 99 Classics with the large pads if the signature is the same as the Noirs. But again, that is just preference. Most people agree these are damn good...

FiiO FH5 - Quad Driver Hybrid In-Ear Monitors || Knowles Balanced Armature Drivers

Thanks for the tip mate. The quality is surprisingly good, especially for the price. The connectors are nice and tight. The hooks aren't memory wire but are shorter than Fiio's, which I like. The braid below the Y-split could be a little better but for the price I can't ask for much more. I just...

Ok I figured out a way to combine the comfort of the "stock" pads with the more balanced sound of the "new original" pads. Figured if the "originals" are actually 1mm thicker than the "stocks", the foam in the former must be a little too soft. Since both pads are so easy to take apart, I took...

I felt the same way regarding how they look on me. I do have a small head so every over-ear headphone I've tried besides the H6 has looked funny on my head. However I don't think anyone in my office cares really, and I definitely don't. Particularly the all black of the Noir doesn't look too...

Ok another experiment. Decided to try the cotton damping mod mentioned earlier in this thread. Instead of loose cotton (didn't have any) I tried placing a cotton makeup removal pad sliced in two on either side and slightly behind the damping foam inside the cup. Kudos to Meze for making these so...

By "lose subbass" do you mean totally lose or does it just mellow it out. I find with the WC pads the bass/subbass are still more than what I'd like.

I had some extra pads to play around with from my m50x - Dekoni ($40) and WickedCushions ($20), both pleather and memory foam. Neither will slot easily so I had to wrap them around the cups. The signature with the dekonis, although better than the "stock" pads, was a bit weird. They introduced...

I used to have a 1st gen H6. If I remember their signature correctly The Noir with "new original" pads sounds similar but with better mids.

Been rocking the 99 Noirs for 2 days now. To my hearing the pads make a huge difference. Similarly to the measurement plots on Massdrop, and Tyll's observations the pads that come pre-installed (the latest gen "Stock 99" large hole ones that come with the Classics and Neo) recess the mids and...
