Recommendations for my wife who only likes earbuds and has an iPod...

Indeed and thanks to all of you for the help.   I prefer IEM, but she likes earbud - probably stems from her not liking wet willies, which I prey on muhahah!   Also don't think it needs to be sonically amazing - if it sounds good for the money, that'll be fine! Just a treat for her rather...

Recommendations for my wife who only likes earbuds and has an iPod...

Hi all, thanks in advance for the help!   My wife's slowly moving away from Apple but still has an iPod. Her standard earbuds are shot and she doesn't get on with in-ears, so I looked through a bunch of reviews here but couldn't decide on what to go for.   Essentially, cheap but better than...

My headphone history, and looking for good, budget in-ears...

Hi, randomkid, thanks for the offer, good luck on the sale, but not looking to spend that much.  Always looking to go cheap as hell but good sound for the very reason that I break them all the time.   The red FX1X's finally gave way, after getting tugged hard on the chaotic London...

My headphone history, and looking for good, budget in-ears...

Thanks turgid for the info; will check them out.  Been off the radar for a bit.   Listening to London Elektricity on the way home from work yesterday I renewed my appreciation for my JVCs again. Great stuff.

My headphone history, and looking for good, budget in-ears...

So, I've had my FX1X's for some time now and feel they are well worth the money.  They're no CK7s but they're superb at handling bass, which has settled down a bit if I'm honest, giving way to better mids and highs.  Soundstage isn't quite as wide as I've experienced before, but nothing too...

    JVC HA-FX1X Xtreme Xplosive Impressions

Quote: If I ever buy any headphones over £30 again I will consider the CKS77 especially as the CK7 still remain my favourite of all time (and still cost £80 to buy now). Also, the vPulse spoken about in another thread seems to be a good one in between the JVC and CKS77.

Velodyne vPulse Review - Bass lovers rejoice!!!

Quote: I think though, for the price of £18, the JVCs still make a great buy, and with the right player they sound brilliant.

    JVC HA-FX1X Xtreme Xplosive Impressions

Quote: Still listening and every few days modifying EQ as new properties on these open up every day.   Have got to say one thing. These are sounding closer to my CK7s now than anything else I have heard. I miss those CK7s but these are bringing out details I had forgotten about with...

    JVC HA-FX1X Xtreme Xplosive Impressions

Okay, 4-6 hours they started opening up, but trebles are sounding a little harsh. A little tweaking to the EQ fixed this, but I found out something fantastic. They make my Samsung Galaxy SII (Classic, Music Clarity) sound better than it has with other headphones. Again, picking up more details...

Looking For cheap earbuds with good sound and a high quality cable

Quote: Cables on my £20 M11+ have so far outlasted my CK7s (1 set) and CKS50 (1 set) which both lost sound in the left ear and both cost more than £20.   Given these to my sister now and I have bought the JVC HAFX1X for £18 which has a pretty good quality cable in my opinion and...

    JVC HA-FX1X Xtreme Xplosive Impressions

Quote: So far I'm on the same page... Except hours behind - I'm in about 3 hours usage so far, and I get exactly what you're saying. That being said, the instrument separation is still not bad in most cases and soundstage is not as narrow I was worried it would be :)   A lot...

    JVC HA-FX1X Xtreme Xplosive Impressions

I just bought some. Thanks to everyone in this thread. Not many talked about the soundstage though, but at £18 I'm willing to risk it compared to the £35 for SoundMAGIC E10s which I was very tempted by.   The CKS77s were awfully tempting but at £59 out of my current budget. I've been a big...

My headphone history, and looking for good, budget in-ears...

Quote: Thanks mbamg, I am going to go for the JVCs I think. I should stick to "cheap, fun and resilient" which is what these seem to be able to do. They'll be just fine for me ;)   Thanks everyone for your help! The CKS77 was tempting but too much, and again the E10s tempting...
