    CD players with variable output?

The Linn Genki has variable output on its RCA's, although I personally haven't tried listening to it through my headphone setup, others have said it sounds terrible compared to the fixed output. Hope this helps, Chefbeldar

    Planning to upgrade my source....

To add to the Redbook only CD-player list, the Linn Genki is a great player. I have it set up with AT W2002 and Micro Zotl. Great detail, drive and solidly constructed. Picked mine up on Audiogon, usually retails for $1700, can get it for around $800. Hope this helps, Chefbeldar

AT W2002 and Beyer DT-880's comparison

AIM9X, In a pinch I'd have to say the AT W2002, but I may be biased cause I've had the AT's longer. Bryan

AT W2002 and Beyer DT-880's comparison

Hey everyone, Thought I'd share a brief prelude to a comparsion between these two headphones. Please bear in mind, this is what I hear and my opinions . I'm running a Linn Genki with a Signal Group Power 2 cord, Transparent Power Isolater XL and Totem Acoustic interconnects to a Micro Zotl...

    Which source....

Czilla9000, I own the Linn Genki and read various reviews about the tray being "shoddy" It's made of plastic so its not built like a tank. Its a little noisy going in and out, but makes a solid thunk when closed. To me its a non issue. I've auditioned the Sim Audio Nova and while not as...

    Linn Genki

I also own a Linn Genki and can affirm its one badass cd player. Even though its a 3 year old design (1999) its one of the more "musical" cd players I've got to audition. Way better than the sony d-25s i was using =P Haven't used the variable outputs, but the ability to hook it straight to an...

Oops made a lil booboo there thanks for pointing that out !!

What is the purpose of DAC's?

HI- Here's my stab at the definition of a DAC. Digital to Analogue Converter. It take a digital signal either optical or coax and converts it into an analogue signal you can hear through your headphones or speakers. If your minidisc player has optical out you can use a DAC otherwise you'll...

    Meta42 through Airport security?

FYI I just went for Thanksgiving break from Champaign, IL to Cleveland, OH with no problems with my Ipod, Meta42, Sony D-25S and ER-4P's so should be smooth sailing. Good Luck, Chefbeldar
