Testing audiophile claims and myths
I gather from the description that it is supposed to be a new recording. The cannons are still heavily clipped and at least to me they sound wrong and should be recorded at a lower level. As you probably can't cut clipping like that directly to vinyl i'm pretty sure it would sound slightly...- cer

Testing audiophile claims and myths
I understand that the cannons were already clipped on the master recording so it's just a case of how to disguise that. You can't really transfer that kind of stuff to vinyl so something definitely has to be done. CD on the other hand can handle it easily. The CD is clipped because the...- cer

MQA: Revolutionary British streaming technology
That is a genuinely lovely graph. Reel-to-reel and LP both much better quality than DVD-A/SACD. Streaming worse than cassette. Definitely not stupid or wrong or anything.- cer

Why 24 bit audio and anything over 48k is not only worthless, but bad for music.
The problem is that the reported subjective experience is almost always directly linked to technical specifications like 24/196. And that IS very probably a false claim, as it is very probable that the experience has really nothing to do with those specifications. If someone claims that 24/196...- cer

Jitter Correlation to Audibility
UMS writes - "Like all the tests, this ABX requires replication, including multiple testers, before there's any point drawing conclusions about it." Valid ABX testing does not include any "testers". From Wikipedia: "all test results must be counted in order for the result to be valid. This...- cer

Nope 0,002 vs 0,0002. No harmonic distortion at all is most definitely suspicious.- cer

Cafe Sceptico: The Objectivist Cafe
Actually the graph shows two different things - Frequenzgang means frequency response - obviously, but Klirr means distortion and that's the three lower lines on the graph. They look suspicious though, usually there's higher distortion in the low frequencies. But thats besides the point. The FR...- cer

E-MU 0204 USB: Damn, They've Done it Again! And for $129!!!
It's safe to say, there aren't any comparable 24/192 interfaces with balanced outputs in 0204s price range. I own a 0202 USB, which has similar inputs and I have zero issues. It's true that the inputs aren't completely symmetrical, but that's not a problem in real world use. There is one real...- cer
