Unfortunate, LM. Hope the sensory adaptation has not been too traumatic. Hearing the world in mono must take a lot of perseverance. There are a lot of excellent mono recordings available, like some Beecham (Beeth 7th with RPO), Szell, and even Karajan (early Philharmonia). :L3000: :beerchug:

Hey CC, No worries on the Blomstedt. Amazing he's still conducting, at his age. But so was Haitink til recently. Alberta's in bad shape with the 4th wave here. Haven't banned foreign travellers, but if you come, make sure not to get any non-Covid conditions, as it's unlikely you will get a...

His most recent Mozart album is sublime. His rendition of the K.397 Fantasia might displace my fav -- Brendel's.

This box also wasa good deal and offered up some very fine recs of Mahler and others. Not quite as eclectic and high calibre as the Reiner box (LAPhil ain't like the Chicago, folks), but with Decca, there's some excellent SQ...

The CD box of Solti/Vienna does it for me. Smooth as silk, with sound effects on stage (studio recordings) that border on the fantastic. Decca engineering too. The LPs are decent, but have been superseded by the digital remasterings. http://www.classical.net/music/recs/reviews/l/lon78370a.php...
