PS ADD: there is no personal offense here. It's a pity we are antipodes; otherwise I would invite you for a cup of coffee and a listen to the V-DAC in my set-up.

Dr. larkos: Your statement " The point that I would like to make is that the transport used DOES matter" is very true. In one of my early posts I cited an early review by Audio magazine where it was already made clear that the full sound potential of the V-DAC can only be appreciated in...

Thank you, gentlemen. Are you considering more mods (is there still more SQ potential in the V-DAC that is easy to realise?). Or would this be the way to move forward then?! In general: I am already very pleased with the V-DAC as is; it's simply giving in to temptation for something...

@Josep: I have to disagree on your valuation of cabling; not all cables are equal, let alone neutral. I agree that cables should not be used to fix a problem; however some cables are better in passing the analog signal than others. @Josep & Spore: if you had 100 bucks to spend: would you invest...

I was able to improve the "impact of sound" by removing the dampening I put under the v-dac (sorbothane feet): this dampening had a negative effect on definition and smoothened the sound, a fluidity that the V-DAC certainly doesn't need! In addition I swapped the RCA cable to a very transparant...

I am not keen on modding the V-DAC, unless you (Josep) would stumble on a major weakness in the configuration that would be easy to fix. In that sense: I have confidence in what I hear (on top of my left-handedness when it comes to electronics). In addition to my earlier comments I would say...
