AKG K702 Impressions.
I agree with you on the bass.. to me it's just so tight and refined compared to 'darker' headphones. But it's not to everyone's taste. I've really come around to liking these more than I did initially. One big winner for me on the comfort was: cut pieces of memory foam and secure it with hockey...- calumniate

Mid-fi heaven?
I'm totally a mid-fi guy.. currently have hifiman 400i 2020, akg702, b&o he6 (for portable), k5 pro amp / dac, and zen blue for bluetooth stereo speaker streaming. Def putting on the brakes a bit now as I can safely say I'm pretty satisfied with the gear. What is lacking in gear quality i'll...- calumniate

I switched to the dekoni fenestrated sheepskin pads and it seemed to dial down the brightness a bit- calumniate

HiFiMan HE4XX
I may want to walk back my prior statement. I think the defean angled pads were a little too bass-y / cloud-y for my tastes, even though they were thick and comfortable. I ended up going with the dekoni elite perforated angled pads, which are more true to the original sound signature. Hope I...- calumniate

Hifiman Sundara vs AKG K702
I have the k702 and 400i, and would say they are very interesting to pit against one another, and am glad I have both :) AKG are very reference style and are quite neutral. Now that i've been modding the 400i with different earpads (which change the sound signature significantly), it's good to...- calumniate

suggestion? good: mids, discants, soundstage, use:computer, phone. over ear, closed.
Maybe you could find a used pair of Bang & Olufsen H6. I think they sound great off of a phone for example- calumniate

HiFiMan HE4XX
Yes actually. Deeper bass for sure. Still unclear about soundstage (but not going to revert to check). Interestingly they seem to be able to take more volume, which is kind of nice since I'm driving them mostly from a k5 pro. That's likely due to the difference in driver distance from your ears...- calumniate

I installed these ones on my 400i 2020 version: https://www.amazon.com/Upgrade-Genuine-Replacement-Massdrop-Headphones/dp/B07T87DYFB Recommend the sheepskin ones! The ear opening is not circular though and have to take care lining those parts up :) Quite a bit thicker than the stock pads- calumniate

AirPods Max
Off topic and I hate apple products lol, but does anyone else find bluetooth to be a little long in the tooth? I personally can't wait for something that's a bit more secure, with a handful of connection options (preferred connection, secured connection, etc).- calumniate

HIFIMAN HE400i 2020 Version
So I just ordered these: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07T87DYFB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Probably cheaper elsewhere in the USA for example, but that's the cost of being Canadian. Overall, way thicker pads.. and lint free. Mounting took some effort.. the ear mold is...- calumniate
