This is Maxsie, our Maine Coon cat and very much the head of our household! She was a young kitten when this picture was taken.

    Newbie Question

I have noticed several posts which refer to a break-in or warm-up period after which a DAP tends to sound better. What are the reasons for this circumstance? Thanks to all - I am learning so much on this forum! Cal in Texas

Rank the best sounding daps that you heard

Here's my list - my personal preferences: 1. Cowon Plenue L - best I have heard if you do not need the bells and whistles 2. A&K SP1000M - does it all, excellent sound quality - EQ is useless 3. Cowon Plenue 1 - superb sound - no true balanced output Phones and IEMs Audeze LCD-XC, Sennheiser...

Balanced Cable for Shure SE846 IEMs

I am looking for suggestions for a good but not bank-busting expensive balanced output cable for my Shure SE846 IEMs. I need a cable with a 4.4mm plug. I have searched and read but I am wondering if anyone has suggestions for a good, proven cable. Thanks! Cal in Texas

    Amps with DACs

I had been using Senheisser HD-650 phones but just this week obtained a set of Audeze LCD-XC phones. You are correct, with this combination the Plenue is driving the headphones very nicely - especially with balanced output. I don't think an amp will be necessary with this combination.

    Amps with DACs

Please forgive a newbie question - I have a Cowon Plenue L. Do I need a headphone amp with a DAC? Does using a headphone amp with a built-in DAC add to or detract from a player with a DAC in any way? Thank in advance! Cal in Texas

    New Member Introductions thread

Hello to all! I am a returning 'newbie'. I have been a member of this forum since 2015 but have not posted much at all. I have learned a lot over that period of time however simply by reading posts and reviews. I am by no means a hifi expert, but I do share one thing in common with those who...

    A Baffling Conundrum

This was exactly the problem!  I went in to Windows File Explorer and added the tags that I wanted and all the files now appear as they should. Roseval, thanks very much for your advice and guidance.  It is really great for a relative newbie like me to have the wealth of knowledge and experience...

    A Baffling Conundrum

I have a set of .WAV music files that I can play through any computer software player that I have access to.  However when I copy these files to my Cowon Plenue 1 I can see the files through the file manager on my computer as long as the Plenue is connected.  When I disconnect the Plenue from my...

    *Official Schiit Magni/Modi 2 ( Uber ) Thread*

I am not an engineer, so I will tell you what I have observed in layman's terms.  Having reviewed the thread that you reference on reddit there are obviously several people who are experiencing this problem, but all I can do is give you my experiences.   I do not hear any hiss from these...

    *Official Schiit Magni/Modi 2 ( Uber ) Thread*

I have a pair of JBL LSR 305s plus a JBL LSR300S Subwoofer hooked to the preamp on my Magni 2U.  I get superb room filling audio in my 30 by 30 man cave.  There is really enough headroom to put all the volume you want into a room this size without distortion or loss of audio quality.  It is...

    New Member Introductions thread

Hello all from east Texas.  I have been a hi-fi fanatic since the term was invented I guess.  I have been in pursuit of the ultimate "earotica" since the 70s and over the last few years have been striving to match the sound I used to get from my room filling systems through modern miniature...
