Previously I didn't get the meaning of your formulation. Thanks for making it clear for me.

Sorry but you are mixing oversampoling (interpolation) filters and delta sigma modulation with D/A stage. D/A stage of delta sigma DACs (that are all direct DSD capable DACs) is implemented as a FIR low pass filter. When we speak about bypassing DAC digital processing with direct DSD path, it...

Pi3 is not supported as NAA since Ethernet and USB port share the same USB bus, so that USB port is noisy and causes issues at higher rates. https://audiophilestyle.com/forums/topic/13649-hqplayers-network-audio-adapter/page/102/#comments...

For demonstration purposes, could somebody process the 60 seconds snippet (I already posted a week ago) by PGGB and upload the result somewhere? EDIT: I have it already, thanks.

Part of what to look for is encoded in this sentence: "Measurements need to be of wide band type to see differences in ultrasonic noise too to see its level and possible spurious tones, which could intermodulate into audio band.". So it is about noise floor level and spurious tones it contains...

I agree with your post and I want to comment only this ESS related part. Implementations around ESS chips vary, so two DACs built around ESS chip may sound very differently. ESS chips require a reconstruction filter to be implemented behind the DAC chip and it's behavior for different signal...

As always ... by listening (subjectively) or by measurement (objectively, if somebody is able to provide an objective interpretation of measurement results). Measurements need to be of wide band type to see differences in ultrasonic noise too to see its level and possible spurious tones, which...

It belong to DACs which don't oversample so it is suitable for use with HQPlayer. With DSD input it provides direct DSD path. This thread is also about transient smear caused by long filters but not recognized and understood by many people. There is no such equation, particularly generally for...

You don't mention your DAC. With some DACs DSD512 helps and some direct DSD capable DACs have sweet spot at DSD256.

Like it was already mentioned, it depends on music content. If it frequently contains fast transients, then transient smear is easily audible, at least for me. Such a content sounds much cleaner with short or middle lenght filters than with long ones. It can be heard on cymbals, or percussions...

1.024M is non standard rate and most probably is not playable in majority of PCM DACs. Generally playable are integer multiples of 44.1k and 48k. 1.024M is integer multiple of 32k. Jussi added these because some devices do support them but for most people these rates may cause confusion...

Some people experience a difference between cables and don't need "a salesman from Ansuz" for that. Other people don't experience such differences and therefore they don't need "a salesman from Ansuz" either. Devices differ in their input and output impedance and there are also devices which...

Look into PDF manual which is installed together with HQPlayer Desktop for gain setting. If you are using Convolution dialog, use Gain comp. at top right side. If you are using Matrix Pipeline dialog, you can set individual gain to each channel.

You still don't get what I and Jussi told you repeatedly. IIR to FIR checkbox cleared means no IIR to FIR conversion for PEQ. PEQ in this context means inline syntax (see PDF manual) or supported TXT file format. You may be right, I just never heard about IIR WAV file processed by HQPlayer...

No, a I wrote above, don't check the IIR to FIR checkbox (set it to be unchecked). That checkbox applies only to IIR PEQ settings. WAV convolution files are always FIR. Syntactically just follow Jussi's example. No. NAA does no processing on data. Input NAA is like output NAA, just data flows...
