Monarchy NM24 or Stello DA100 Signature...
I've got the NM24 also. For me it came down to a choice between that and the Cambridge 840C DAC/CD player which I auditioned extensively in Hi Fi store up the road from where I live. Perhaps the best recommendation I can give is that since it arrived around 4 months ago I have lost the desire to...- boggle

D2 FLAC issue
Thanks for the responses guys - I'd be pretty disappointed if id3 tags caused problems! I'll keep playing around and post my findings here. I would really love a high quality FLAC playing dap that just works when the files are stored in directories - what could be simpler!! I was hoping the D2...- boggle

D2 FLAC issue
I recently acquired a second hand Cowon D2 expressly for the purpose of being able to play the many FLAC files that I have without the need to recode as mp3. I have encountered an issue where the D2 will play some but not others. I can point to the files that won't play in the D2 directory...- boggle

Best FLAC playing DAP for SQ Meizu vs Trekstor
I'm thinking Meizu M6 SL or Trekstor Vibez at this stage - my number one concern is SQ. Any comments about the relative merits of these two players would be appreciated, as would any other suggestions. One query - when using a mac do these players generally just appear as a drive where you can...- boggle

Monarchy NM24 or Cambridge 840C
My NM24 has arrived! I spent a couple of hours setting up my listening space last night then had about an hour of listening - wow! Damn I love upgrading, I reckon I got 10% of the purchase price worth of pleasure already. This thing is magical with acoustic instruments and the female voice...- boggle

Monarchy NM24 or Cambridge 840C
Yes I realize that - thanks Gradofan. I'm quite keen on detail, and the idea of being able to A/B the SS versus the tube output dacs appeals to me - although I'm sure this will be a novelty and one will win out. Mr Poon claims that the NM24 is their flagship unit by the way.- boggle

Monarchy NM24 or Cambridge 840C
Hey, thanks for the comments guys. I've just pulled the trigger on the NM24 so I'll be posting my impressions in a week or so. I've never experienced the valve magic that you lot are in to (other than short auditions which always sound impressive, need to spend some time to really form an...- boggle

Monarchy NM24 or Cambridge 840C
Ok gang I've got my list down to these two and I respectfully invite comments an either with respect to SQ and would be very grateful to hear from anyone who has heard both. I know that they have different functionality strengths (cd transport vs line/head amp), but my main focus is the...- boggle

pico usb dap nirvana possible?
Thanks for the reply. I don't get the difficulty with a dap having a usb out - it must be just software, they have the processing power and the memory. I reckon its one for the not too distant future. I'll be stoked if it comes about.- boggle

pico usb dap nirvana possible?
Don't know if this is already out there but I am currently dreaming of a portable rig that consists of a pico w/ USB dac plus a dap (maybe a Trekstor Vibez) that can play FLAC files via the USB port of the player. This feels to me like it might just be a soft/firmware fix if it is not alrady...- boggle

Melbourne Meet Impressions - Sunday 7 October 2007
Great meet - thanks again to the host It was great just to clap eyes on a whole bunch of gear I had previously only read about. Really cool bunch of guys too. I was quite keen on the stello ensemble (dac, headamp, poweramp) and the opera - special mention to the lavry. Gee, the HD650 had quite a...- boggle

KECES PCM2702 USB DAC
Hi there maniac, your product sounds interesting. Here in Melbourne where I live there is a bunch of tweakers called Burson Audio who make discrete op amps: http://www.bursonaudio.com/Burson_HDAM_Module.htm How do you think these would go in the output stage of your SPDIF dac? Maybe we could...- boggle
