3 weeks ago i bought HD660S and man what a difference,HD800 are worlds ahead,it isn’t even funny :)).I bought them for casual listening,movies and games and for that will remain :))

Drivers are Tesla EF806S and the dac is Peachtree dacITx(i have this dac for more than five years and no need to change it with something more "high end" :astonished:).

Best "thing" about La Figaro besides great synergy with high impedance phones and some planars is the dual mono volume control, even more for me because i'm obsessed with voices to sound dead center:raised_hands::yum:.

My best drivers so far from ef86 variants are Tesla EF806S combined with Bendix 6080WB and GEC 6080, but i never tried Telefunken EF86 or EF806S.For powers i am curios about Tung Sol 6080 which tintinsnowydog recommend and Gec 6AS7G of course-too expensive..

I assure you that La Figaro 339 it is a very capable amp and work v.good with several headphones like HD650,T1,HE500,HD800 but for some reason not with HD800S,so i guess depends on the synergy ,idk.I personally tried all these headphones with 339(see my posts on the La Figaro thread,some months...

I totally agree with you,HD800S are AMAZING and don’t need to add to much with amplification because they are tunned allready v.good,but since i built my system around La Figaro ,HD800 worked better for me(bass was totally off with HD800S,wooly,too much bloom).

I had them on the La Figaro 339 too and performed better on my ss amps.
