A decent amp alternative to consider is the PocketAmp version2 by Gary - http://www.electricavenues.com . Quite nice and you get a volume control, which I find important also. 60 US plus shipping. I have one and like it.

Some of the models you mentioned are in different price ranges. I did some research on the Indigo and it seems like an ideal solution, even has an onboard amp that makes listening with phones very convenient. Only problem is it's not an USB device, which are convenient to play with different...
