6SN7 Tube Addicts
I've been listening to the Sylvania 6SN7WGT's for a couple days now. Maybe they need burned in more, but for now I am actually kinda preferring the sound of the CBS Hytron 6SN7GT. I'm also burning in a NOS Ken Rad VT231, hoping that its hum dies down a little. My amp is a Darkvoice 336SE...- blairfrischx

6SN7 Tube Addicts
Got it. CV181-Z, probably not worth the money. I really just want my new tubes to get here so I can get an idea of which combination I prefer. The waiting is just going to make me want to buy more.- blairfrischx

6SN7 Tube Addicts
Oh, right. It is a Svetlana 6H13C tube right now (the one that came with it when I got it). I have also been looking for NOS options there. I just got the amp recently, so I am still getting acquainted with all of the solid combinations that others have reported. I've recently ordered a...- blairfrischx

Quote: The output tube is a 6AS7/6080. If I am not mistaken, the CV181 draws ~900mA while the 6SN7 only draws ~650mA, correct?- blairfrischx

6SN7 Tube Addicts
I have a Darkvoice 336SE with a 6SN7 preamp tube. Does anybody know if the CV181 or CV181-Z would work as a replacement, since the two are electrically similar? I'm also trying to get a hold of some Ken-Rad 6SN7 tubes to sub in and see how they sound. For now, I am using a Sylvania, and it...- blairfrischx

Grant Fidelity Tube DAC-11
Am I reading this correctly - you can power headphones directly from the Tube Out? Obviously it states that it only works properly for headphones over 300 Ohms, but it has the capability to do that? Very interesting DAC. I'll keep an eye on this thread.- blairfrischx

$1300 laptop outputs ----> $20 sound. Help wanted !
NA Blur is completely correct. The inside of a computer is a very hostile environment for an analog audio signal. Especially within the not-at-all-shielded confines of a laptop, there is a ton of interference bouncing around in there. I know that I also have this problem with my very expensive...- blairfrischx

iPod/Cell phone setup question
Are you planning on having both playing constantly in your backpack? I'm a little confused about the logistics of just implementing a simple in-line source switch if you also need to control the two different media players to some extent. I've looked around the Internet some for a...- blairfrischx

Differences between iPod 5th & 5.5 - Face Plate
I have the same issue with the replacement back plate of my iPod 5G. I believe that, for all intents and purposes, the iPod 5.5G was simply a 5G with a larger hard drive and a larger back plate to accommodate it. The faceplate should be 100% identical. Now, the likelihood of a cheap...- blairfrischx

Is it worth it?
For all intents and purposes, a receiver should drive them just fine. Hopefully you still aren't in the same room as your sleeping girlfriend listening with open headphones.- blairfrischx

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide
Quote: I've not heard anything bad about Tung-Sol's in most families. I've also not heard much talk of them being popular in the Little Dot products (everyone loves the Bugle Boys and Mullards), so it might just be that the Tung-Sol crowd and the Little Dot crowd don't overlap much.- blairfrischx
