I believe that the Flint board isn't "plumbed" to take advantage of the DAC3 architechture, and that is why it isn't recommended. I think they upgraded elements of the design for this future expansion on the Amethyst, and anything higher.

I think the DAC 3 modules take the Onyx to the Morpheus level. I believe they would go beyond in the Pavane setup. I would guess that the high end Sonnet DAC that has been talked about in the past will be the equivalent of the Pavane DAC 3.
