I know pleather is not the ideal material for earpads, but is there anything you can do to help prolong the life of the pleather on your pads? Is it safe to use any kind of plastic / vinyl protectant on them? Thanks...

To prolong the life of pleather earpads, could you use one of those products meant to protect plastic / vinyl surfaces in cars? (Like Armor-All, etc.) Or is the pleather used in earpads so crappy there's nothing you can do? Anyone got a set of beater headphones / earpads to do an experiment with?
