    Crack;Bottlehead OTL

I just modified mine for the 12bh7a per this thread http://bottlehead.com/smf/index.php/topic,5989.0.html. Previously I had replaced the LEDs in the socket for resisters, but my voltages were kind of high. Now it is running @70/68 V using a 147 Ohm resister. Maybe could go a little lower, but it...

Yeah, that's the thing I don't like. It's not really a device USB port and is quite large.

I was thinking about the same thing! I spent a long time looking on mouser for a suitable plate mount USB connection but didn't have any luck. If you find something be sure to share it. edit: This was the closest thing to what I wanted that I could find...

For 6AS7G tube rollers here .....

Are you counting variances in construction besides the plates? I have two slots square plates with different mixes of mica and ceramic spaces and bits of metal at the top. I think those are heat spreaders?

Looking good! I don't know if that bottom is temporary, but you will probably want to leave it open underneath so air can flow through.

The NEW Crackheadphone Kit (formerly Bottleheadphone) - $150 headphone built specifically for the Crack

Yeah I am not so sure about this one, but who knows. It sounds like the cable has some kind of impedance adapter built in.

    Crack;Bottlehead OTL

I am using a Tungsol 12BH7A that is rebranded as "Regency" in mine right now. To be honest I have a real hard time hearing a difference switching the drive tubes, but this one looks the best so far haha :). It is the one in the picture I posted last night.. Anyway all three drive tubes that I...

    Schiit Modi USB DAC

The hub built into your computer will be limited in power compared to an external powered USB hub you plug into the wall. People recommend powered hubs for external hard drives and things like that. I guess this DAC is a little power hungry. I don't want to make any promises, but that is what...

I am willing to bet the congestion is the mastering in the track rather than from a lack of power.

    Schiit Modi USB DAC

I am assuming the new imac is using the intel haswell z87 chipset? I have a very similar problem with my haswell based computer running windows 8. It just continuously appears and disappears. I am pretty sure in my case it is a lack of USB power, or something along those lines. I can only get it...

Doing the math I guess I was a little conservative, it is more like 8.5x. Because power is proportional to resistance, 300 ohm resister / 35 ohm he-400 = 8.57 the LD says they put out 350mW @ ~300Ohms so if you just assume we are at that maximum output number, 350mW / 8.57 = only about 40mW of...

    Schiit Modi USB DAC

It is hard to say without knowing what you have, but look under the power menu maybe. Probably something about power saving. I know it is a setting on my motherboard, but I have a completely different BIOS that you.

    Schiit Modi USB DAC

There should be a setting in your computer's BIOS for this.
