As long as you are willing to pay... Bowers and Wilkins MM1 speakers. I own them and can vouch for them totally.

The D1 DAC is superior to the A2+ Built-in DAC. Plus it has a headphone port.

Keep in mind that the A2+ speakers have a built in DAC already, so you could hold off on a separate DAC and see if you like the sound. If you then decide to get an external DAC,, it WILL override the A2+ DAC, which is what you would want anyway.

I think the fact that your conflicted about this is your answer. Since you have a baby on the way, put your resources there. There are many universal (and much cheaper) earphones that sound wonderful. The JH-13s are absolutely great. I have them, but I also have a few universals that sound 85%...

Try the Klipsch X10i. I can wear them all day and forget they are there. They are - hands down - the most comfortable pair of universals I have ever worn. Westone is a real close second.
