Choosing a DAC for iMac
The D1 DAC is superior to the A2+ Built-in DAC. Plus it has a headphone port.- Avalon0387

Choosing a DAC for iMac
Keep in mind that the A2+ speakers have a built in DAC already, so you could hold off on a separate DAC and see if you like the sound. If you then decide to get an external DAC,, it WILL override the A2+ DAC, which is what you would want anyway.- Avalon0387

Are JH-16's worth it?
I think the fact that your conflicted about this is your answer. Since you have a baby on the way, put your resources there. There are many universal (and much cheaper) earphones that sound wonderful. The JH-13s are absolutely great. I have them, but I also have a few universals that sound 85%...- Avalon0387

Former Audiophile looking for IEM
I've heard a few IEM's, both universal and custom. I am assuming you are going the universal route. If I had to give away all of my IEMs and keep one, it would be a toss-up between the Klipsch X10 or Grado GR10. Ironically, both are single armature. The Klipsch wins the comfort hands down. They...- Avalon0387

how to review headphones?
I review earphones and headphones for http://the-gadgeteer.com. I can only tell you how I do it. I use them almost exclusively for 1-2 months (including burn-in if necessary) and write my impressions. I also list the specs, although that's the least important part of the review. I listen to...- Avalon0387

Mastered for iTunes
I downloaded the title track from Elton John's "Madman Across the Water" in Mastered for iTunes. I am listening to it through an external DAC and Atomic Floyd Super Darts earphones. I have to say, I am impressed. The quality may not match HD Tracks, but it sounds pretty darn good. ...- Avalon0387

Angry at ear pain! (deciding on new iems)
Try the Klipsch X10i. I can wear them all day and forget they are there. They are - hands down - the most comfortable pair of universals I have ever worn. Westone is a real close second.- Avalon0387
