Hi daySpring, Thank you for your question about HE400 vs He400i. IMHO, I believe the He400 and He400i are somewhat different especially in the bass, and treble areas. The He400 has amazing bass compared to He400i but also more intense treble, which some like, as it is more of a fun headphone...

Thank for such a warm welcome buke9, I have indeed read the He400 thread (as a lurker) and it's amazing amount of mods etc, and was close to doing grill mod and sorbothane too, but when Hifiman released the He400i, I just could not help myself!!! Unfortunately the He400 gets very little head...
