Battle Of The Flagships (58 Headphones Compared)

This is an incredible review.  Makes a great reference for anyone who is looking to upgrade their headphones.  I currently own the HD650 and after reading your review I really want to give the Hifiman headphones a try.  Keep up the great work!  Maybe a giant DAC comparison in the near future?

    Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Some more updates:  The sound is opening up more and more after burning them in.  Still very comfortable, no creaking issues or build quality problems.  No amp needed at all; my laptop drives it fine.  Similar sound signature to Sennheisier HD595 and my Klipsch S4 IEM.  The bass quantity is...

    Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Quote:   It is a very durable headphone.  Good fit and finish. No weird creaking, either.  Headband is strong.

I don't find the lower mids to be muddy.  Have you tried letting them burn in?

    Sony has new headphones, MDR-1R

Just got these as a gift from my girlfriend.  If I get some time later, I'll do a full review and comparison between these and my HD595, HD650, Grado SR-80, and my Sennheiser PX-100.  So far: signature is simlar to Sennheiser.  Closest to the HD595 but with much better bass.  They sound much...

The LA Meet @ The Village 4/22/12: Wow!

My girlfriend and I had a fabulous time.  You know the meet was well put together when she was entertained from start to finish .  We enjoyed listening to all the gear, and I was also happy to see many people enjoy my Little Dot MKIII + HD650 setup.  I think people had a ton of fun comparing the...

    Audioengine A2s. Thoughts?

Never was impressed by the A2's.  Not sure how they get such great hype on these forums, must be clever marketing.  I thought the highs were really dry sounding, and the boxy sound only made matters worse.  I guess for the price, the right setup can make them sound okay.

Swan M200 treble and bass dial position

Yes, mine came with a manual and I actually e-mailed them myself to verify, because the manual was poorly translated from Chinese.  But, you should still use the settings that sound best to you, there is no right way.  For example, when I change DACs, one bass setting is too strong for another...

The Village Headphone Meet 2012 (Southern California) - Sunday, April 22, 2012

RSVP'd for me and the girlfriend. Never been to a meet before so I'm really excited for this.  Any idea how many people will turn out? Any new details on the after party?  The venue looks incredible. Not sure if I will bring any gear...maybe if someone is interested in something I...

Swan M200 treble and bass dial position

There's no real "neutral" setting because there is actually no way to turn the entire equalizer circuit off.  However, the manual does state it is 12o'clock.

A Bundle of Extreme Musical Happiness -- A Review of the Swans M200 MKIII

I'm sorry if my post offended you.  I don't think there is much objectivity at all in audio and sound reproduction.  It's pretty much all subjective.  How should I go about describing a certain sound I hear?  If you have a better way for describing a way a certain speaker sounds over internet...

A Bundle of Extreme Musical Happiness -- A Review of the Swans M200 MKIII

I am not directing this post at anybody in particular, but I feel as though too many people on forums are not specific enough about their recommendations and are blindly listing equipment they believe sound good.   It is imperative to focus in on what exactly someone's needs are.   Will...

A Bundle of Extreme Musical Happiness -- A Review of the Swans M200 MKIII

Technically, you could use the knobs in the back for volume adjustment but I would avoid that.  Even the owner's manual states, and let me paraphrase, "Select your desired volume with the remote, aim at the left speaker, press SEND, then point at the right speaker and press SEND."  The knobs in...

A Bundle of Extreme Musical Happiness -- A Review of the Swans M200 MKIII

My thoughts exactly.  I will also add that the T200B are much more source dependent, the sound may sound quite a bit with different sources. The construction of the T200B is also nothing short of amazing.  Much higher-end feel and materials than the M200 MKIII.  The only drawback that the T200B...

A Bundle of Extreme Musical Happiness -- A Review of the Swans M200 MKIII

I own both of them.  Both are spectacular.  With the T200Bs, you can expect a better midrange, more detail and slightly better bass.  You can ask me any specific questions you have and I will answer them.
