The best part I love for K701 is the smooth highs, no sibilance at all. It's good for my ears. I think that's why it's best for female vocals. After 3 months, the bass also comes out, not much but deep enough.

I've spent a little over 600 on a K701 and PS Audio gcha amp/dac. I use my macbook as source, and I'm really enjoying them right now. You can find used gcha amp around 400, it's said to be among the best for K701, but i don't have a good source for it.
