Is anyone here a teenager that once believed that Beats and Bose were the best headphones on earth?

Couple of months ago I wanted to buy a pair of Beats headphones since I've heard they are awesome and they looked so sleek.....I didn't understand a thing about headphones, but I always research stuff before I buy them. So, after a couple of minutes searching the web, I found out that Beats are...

    Open-Back Mod for Denon D2000/5000/7000 - FR Measurements Available! - Updated 11-1-2011

Ok I removed the center paper and it sounds great! It's sounds a tad muffled, but much less than with foam. And I don't know if it's placebo, but it sounds like there's more detail! Drums also sound better and I'm not getting fatigued from bad recordings anymore.   I think I won't go any...

    Open-Back Mod for Denon D2000/5000/7000 - FR Measurements Available! - Updated 11-1-2011

Well, I've put some foam from my old Muller headphones (lol). The sound is much less fatiguing and more forgiving for badly recorded music, but the sound is a bit....Muffled, compared to how it is without. You said taking off the center paper does more or less the same thing, but better, no? I...

What was your first pair of headphones?

My first headphone was a crappy 10 USD Muller headphone xD  (I still have it. It's just completely torn.) My first "real" headphone is the Denon AH-D2000, which I currently own =D

Ok. Do you mean placing the foam between the earpads and driver?

    Open-Back Mod for Denon D2000/5000/7000 - FR Measurements Available! - Updated 11-1-2011

Ok, after some more time listening to them I found that they're now more sibilant and bright. It's not fatiguing for me, but it's definately annoying at times. Though not enough to make me stop listening to the song / lower volume / take headphones off. They sound great this way. I might try...

    Open-Back Mod for Denon D2000/5000/7000 - FR Measurements Available! - Updated 11-1-2011

Yeah I know.....I'm planning on getting a Violectric V200 amplifier and a Violectric V800 DAC. I've seen many good reviews on those and that they pair well with the Denons and the HiFiMan HE-500 which I'm planning to buy.   By the way, when I unscrewed the ear-cups, the screws that hold the...

    Open-Back Mod for Denon D2000/5000/7000 - FR Measurements Available! - Updated 11-1-2011

I did unlatch the earcups. Maybe it's because I use my PC's onboard sound-card as DAC and amplifier, so I don't get all of the details.....The only reason I'm not getting an amplifier or a DAC is because I'm thinking about getting a better setup. (Will still keep the Denons though =D )  ...

    Open-Back Mod for Denon D2000/5000/7000 - FR Measurements Available! - Updated 11-1-2011

Today I finally got the chance to try the mod on my Denons and I have to say it sounds great! The most noticeable thing for me is that they become more comfortable and much less fatiguing. Music that used to be annoying for me to listen to, is now perfectly fine.   The only cons for me...

    Headphone Sightings 2

Saw a couple of Portapros, a AKG K77, a couple of Beats Solo and some AKG in-ears at my school. A year ago all of the "headphones" I saw at my school were iBuds. It's nice to see the change =D

Should I get my ms2i's magnumized or should I get HE-500's?

If I were you I would jump on the opportunity to get the HE-500 with that price. If you won't be satisfied you'll be able sell them for a price higher than what you got them for and earn from it.   If you buy the HE-500 you'll have two different sound signatures to choose from for different...

What's your next purchase going to be?

Quote: Yeah I was looking at those too =P The HE-6 especially. I read a review of someone that owns both the T1 and HE-6. After he re-cabled them he said the T1 sounds more natural, exactly what I'm looking for......Maybe I'll end up buying both LOL.   I also need to get a proper...

What's your next purchase going to be?

I'll probably wait until my b-day to upgrade. I bet there'll be new stuff by then, but I'm planning on getting new headphones, amplifier and DAC.   I'll probably get a Hifiman HE-500, Violectric V200 amp and V800 DAC. I might get Beyerdynamic T1, RSA Darkstar amp and Violectric V800...

    Can you "hear" absolute silence?

I also hear that faint high-pitched noise and I've always been hearing it. If I focus on it I hear it more and on very very rare occassions I don't hear it at all.   Maybe it's from inside my head or maybe from outside.....No idea.

What do your parents think of Audiophilia?

My dad is the one that bought me my Denon AH-D2000. When I told him about more expensive headphones, amplifiers, DACs, he told me that he'll buy me a "proper" setup for my b-day =D My mom didn't understand what's so special about the Denons that made them cost so much. I let her listen to some...
