Been away from the party a while...sure this has been discussed...currently own and love my buttonless RS1. What could I possibly expect as far as differences with the Hemp? Would there be enough difference to warrant owning both?- ArmAndHammer

HiFiMan HE4XX
My plan is to eventually get either the DROP + THX AAA™ 789 which would push about 6 watts or the Schiit Jotunheim probably with the balanced DAC module installed. That would give me around 5 watts. Price is $400 and $500 respectively. So not sure what your idea of bang for the buck but for me...- ArmAndHammer

Gotcha...yeah...there definitely can be/is a difference between loud and good. Sometimes you don't get both.- ArmAndHammer

HiFiMan HE4XX
Yeah...not sure. I know that with my Magi2 Uber on high gain I have the volume up to around the 2 O'clock position for normal listening and I can max it out and it not be too loud for song here and there that I really want to hear loud. That's supposedly over 1 watt. Between 1.2 and 1.5 watts...- ArmAndHammer

HiFiMan HE4XX
Thinking about maybe grabbing a Schiit Jotunheim and building/buying a balanced cable. 5 watts per channel should do the trick. And I'd like to clean up my desk so a combo unit would be nice assuming that the DAC's that Schiit puts in their all in one amps are decent. Something I need to look...- ArmAndHammer

HiFiMan HE4XX
Interesting you say that because I've been reading older posts and someone stated they were and they were running them just fine off their phone. I'm using my Schiit Audio Magni 2 Uber on high gain and my volume pot is at like 2 o'clock to get suitable volume and this amp should be putting out...- ArmAndHammer

HiFiMan HE4XX
Funny....first thing I listened to was some Pink Floyd but Darkside of the Moon. Currently listening to Tool Inoculum. I'll have to check out the stuff you posted. I plan to take these on a spin later today with some Modern Warfare...see how they are for gaming. Been using the X2's for that and...- ArmAndHammer

HiFiMan HE4XX
Mine just arrived. Giving them a listen now. I had the HE400 a few years ago. A/B'ed them against the Phillips Fidelio X2 and I was torn but the X2 just barely edged out and I returned the HE400. Not sure I had the amp to really power the HE400 at the time. Now I have a Schiit Audio Modi2 Uber...- ArmAndHammer

DIY Cable Gallery!!
Nevermind...the black transparent I found is NOT Litz. I don't even know what that is...lol...I'm new to the whole upgrade cable game. I need to look it up to see if it's something even worth messing with. I don't know if I'm one to buy into the cable snake oil...I don't doubt that quality cable...- ArmAndHammer

DIY Cable Gallery!!
Anything with a clear jacket that's recommended that's not terribly expensive? I'd like to have that exposed wire (no cloth covering) look but it's not necessary. I just like the way it looks. So far the cables I've found like that are kinda pricey...like in the range of $60-100 for enough cable...- ArmAndHammer
