iFi Audio Pro iESL - The Official Thread
Oh dear, here we go again. The most basic non understanding how ESLs work - they are electrically a capacitor. A capacitor halves the impedance for every doubling the frequemcy - and for the infinite frequency response, you would need infinite power in order to charge this capacitance - BEFORE...- analogsurviver

Testing audiophile claims and myths
I just wanted to give a clear example where ABX is ... nothing but a waste of time. Besides that , it is an practical impossibility. SWITCHING two high volage amps/transformers/whatever is an extremely daunting task... - if nothing else, there is NO standard or prescription how polarising...- analogsurviver

Testing audiophile claims and myths
The outcome on blind test to Stax SRM-252S ( a typical electrostatic amp uncapable of supporting wide bandwidth without inevitable slew rate distortion setting in due to too little POWER/CURRENT to drive the capacitive load properly ) and a BHSE ( which is one of the few that can drive properly...- analogsurviver

History of the AKG K1000?
I do not think AKG exists anymore - at least not AKG capable of servicing K-1000. Just ask Heinz ( hrklg01 ) via PM - he still does service his baby.- analogsurviver

Testing audiophile claims and myths
Correct - as long you CAN increase the force. This ends with low SPLs, where you can not increase the force - because for certain SPL it is given and adding any more force woul increase SPL required - which is forbidden if the accuracy is to be maintained. Regarding ESL vs dynamic drivers...- analogsurviver

Testing audiophile claims and myths
The real question is the other way around - what kind of digital equipment has the performance which is capable of covering all the bandwidth of the best analog without introducing any objectionable quantization noise. I know of exactly ONE documented and from third party verified "soundcard"...- analogsurviver

MC vs MM Phono Cartridges
@bigshot Debatable in this case just means resistant to facts. Hey - you are in the very wrong thread. High time you do get to listen to a properly recorded analog records using proper record record playback equipment. At least once ... Then it should be crystal clear where the prescribed...- analogsurviver

MC vs MM Phono Cartridges
Variables in LP playback are numerous - but they are not largely uncontrollable. How well a LP and CD perform is debatable - at least. It is perhaps fairer to say that CD performance is more predictable than LP - where there can be quality so superior to CD to be mind boggling - and...- analogsurviver

MC vs MM Phono Cartridges
MM vs MC is a theme older than the hills. And it is FAR from finished article - nor it is anything written in stone. Recent resurrection of the vinyl as a viable medium for music has finally allowed some of the concepts from the very peak of the analog (end of 70s, beginning 80s ) to finally...- analogsurviver

Testing audiophile claims and myths
Thank you for your comment - much appreciated. I would not want to make a recording any other way - even with unlimited budget. But capturing these three "acts" in a really optimum way would have required more careful and precise positioning of the microphone and - in particular - the...- analogsurviver
