Westone UM PRO Series Thread
I am quite sceptical when it comes to burn in and its role in headphone sound. More so, I don't believe in armature headphones burn in. I can maybe accept dynamic driver burn in as the driver moves in the housing and MIGHT settle in. I cannot accept armature drivers burning in. Ears adapting and...- alksv

Westone UM PRO Series Thread
I wouldn't be as quick to bash them. My guess is their projections indicate there is still demand for their line up, but supplies and materials for the old models were running thin, and they decided to update the look and feel while possibly increasing their margins in the long run. It's...- alksv

Westone UM PRO Series Thread
You are right by saying the UM3X housing plastic is virtually shatter proof. What I meant was that it opened up, probably due to glue drying up. The housing consists of 3 parts, the two halves which hold together with pegs, and a sound barrell (sorry, not sure of the exact word), which goes on...- alksv

Westone UM PRO Series Thread
Bought the PRO 30 today. Spent most of the day with them. Here are my thoughts and impressions: 1. Design and build. Improved, without a doubt. The housing is smaller, definitely sturdier. Feels more damage-proof than the UM3X (whose housing fell apart numerous times, with glue drying out)...- alksv

Westone UM PRO Series Thread
I am a happy owner of the UM3X. I really enjoy their signature. I could have gone the customs route, but preferred to stay with IEMs for various reasons, and the UM3X just fit the role. Yesterday one of the drivers in the right housing failed it seems (noticeably quieter than left speaker), and...- alksv

REVIEW (in progress) - Nuforce HDP 24/96 USB-Optical 24/192 Coax DAC Preamp and Headphone Amp
Just wanted to chime in and leave a short feedback. I went to using the laptop exclusively a while back and wanted a compact, affordable and strong-performing USB amp/dac device since, coming from a computer-based Asus Essence + Lehmann BCL. I finally had time to do some research and pulled...- alksv

Sennheiser ie 8 bad cable.
Guys, I'm just baffled by all the replies considering where the conversation started and where it lead afterwards. Don't feed the troll, please. And if he (by some chance) is not a troll, he's just thick. Either way - you still lose.- alksv

I have my hands ON the Sony X1000 Walkman - Impressions / Discussions
Quote: Check if the files are using id3v2.3 tags, and not id3v2.4 as I'm pretty sure the X doesn't support it. You can easily change them with mp3tag.- alksv

Rank the IEM's you've heard
Sennheiser IE8 > Westone 3 > Shure SE530 > Triple.fi 10 Pro > Sleek SA6 > Klipsch X10 > Sony E888 (not really an IEM though) > various low-end buds including CX300/400/EP630 etc. The IE8 get me most involved, that's what does it for me.- alksv

The best portable audio player on the market
Quote: Then you probably shouldn't be giving job advices. If a 10 hour battery works for you, it doesn't nessessarily work for any other. We are all different, so are our jobs and habits. I easily clock over 3-4 hours a day since I often listen to something while working, and that's not...- alksv

Sennheiser IE8 Impressions Thread
Actually, I noticed a long time ago, after trying various tips, that the most comfortable and isolating for me are the default medium single flanged silicon tips. That surprised me a bit. If only the stock L foam tips were just a tad smaller, I guess I'd be using them. The thin silicone seems to...- alksv

Zune HD vs Sony X
Don't do it! Especially if you're in Canada (meaning no access to the Zune Marketplace). The X is a wonderful device, don't let that (doubtful) versatility take it from you. But that's just me.- alksv

I have my hands ON the Sony X1000 Walkman - Impressions / Discussions
Been using the X for a long time, until I misplaced it in some bar (along with the phones). I was pissed at myself at first, then felt relief after a while as I started to dig through all the info about other options out there (and I love info... I love options... I love me some new toys!). But...- alksv
