Actually I think the aggressive treble simply comes from the stock power lead of M9. Yesterday I changed my Nordost Vishnu from the DAC to M9, and to my surprise, the treble harshness just completely went away. (I always thought Nordost cables are fast and sharp and emphasize treble)  ...

Yes for LCD3 the treble shouldn't cause any problem. :)   I used low-end Nordost, Siltech and Audience cables, definitely this configuration emphasise the treble too much.

No I did not get any mod of HD800. I think it's because every component in the chain (Weiss DAC2, Master-9, HD800) is very transparent and unforgiving. So, it's "rubbish in, rubbish out". The aggressive treble only comes when the record is really really bad, and this configuration sounds...

Seems that I left too early. I always want to have an audition of TH900, but I missed it.   I vote Pioneer SX-1980 and HE-6 combo for the best of the meeting. I tried HD800 on the amp, but not as impressive as HE-6.
