Hifiman Edition 6 Headphones
Once upon a time it was said "you get what you pay for". I like the older adage of "there's a sucker born every minute". I've owned the HighWayRobbers phones and they have been very cheaply constructed. I was an early HE-5 adopter and was an unwitting beta tester. A new model was introduced...- achristilaw

Why are flagship headphones so expensive now?
Every phone has an idiosyncratic tendency, don't care the price. The "audiophile" will listen to six to twelve recordings that flatter the response characteristic of the headphone system. When the response anomaly becomes apparent when a new piece of music is introduced? The phone looses...- achristilaw

Apex Peak/Volcano Review
I've had three differing Beta's, several of the Gilmores. The best of the bunch is the Peak (S/N 2) with Volcano.... I have the Arete also. The "honest" amps with the portray actual, your best served by the best source you can afford. I like the gold metal base (nickel bottom) Sylvanias also for...- achristilaw

MICROZOTL2 Tube Headphone Amp and preamp: a breakthrough device
Yes, linearity is better with better construction and materials (ah, the good old days). Yet, a properly functioning tube makes more difference in a Berning circuit than anything else. I still have Telefunken's on the inlet and the nickel base 6SN7's from Sylvania on the outer edge.... hey I'm...- achristilaw

MICROZOTL2 Tube Headphone Amp and preamp: a breakthrough device
Not so much in a hysteresis free circuit.... a good functioning tube with the call characteristic's of it's part number are what's important. The other designs that assign transformers for matching duties have much more influence with grid transfer changes. The ZOTL stands alone and is...- achristilaw
