Amp's Ability to Power a Headphone
Tl;dr answer here. If you know the sensitivity at one frequency and the relative response at all frequencies from the frequecy response, then you know the sensitivity vs frequency. Cheers- ab initio

Amp's Ability to Power a Headphone
1 Watt is 1 Watt. Power: P Voltage: V Current: I Impedance: R Here are your fundamental relationships: Ohm's law: V = I*R <-> I = V/R <-> R = V/I Electric power: P = I * V <-> P = V^2 / R <-> P = I^2 * R What you need to notice is this: you can specify exactly 2 of V, I, and...- ab initio

Diy USb Cable With pure silver sound crackle, noise plz help
rca interconnects and USB cables are completely different beasts. the requirements for good for digital communication is not necessarily the same as the requirements for low-level analog signals. Cheers -
Diy USb Cable With pure silver sound crackle, noise plz help
Have you tested your work with a multimeter to check basic things like good solder connections, no short circuits, no open circuits? Secondly, USB defines criteria for compliant cables to allow all compliant devices to communicate perfectly. If you don't have the equipment to check for... -
Passive EQ circuit assistance
@stv014 brings up an excellent point. You probably don't want to try and put an passive eq circuit at the headphone output. Putting it at the line in will allow you to use more reasonably sized (and priced!) components and you won't have to worry about each specific headphone you use...- ab initio

The scientific merit of Pono
I disagree. It is not a waste of time to discuss it because that fact is lost on many folks who get hyperobsessed with hires formats and DAC/amplifier technology that often have negligible effect on sound quality,. Cheers- ab initio

Skeptico Saloon: An Objectivist Joint
Just get one really linear pair of headphones and an equalizer and you can have any of them you want. Cheers- ab initio

Breaking-in headphones, the final verdict!
We need a way to quantify how well equipment responds to equalization/correction. My opinion is that all devices that behave linearly, even with EQ, are equivalently "accurate." Namely, if they can be configured to output the original signal over a reasonable range gains with inaudible noise...- ab initio

Breaking-in headphones, the final verdict!
If I were you, I'd be sending that amp straight back to the dealer. Built-in sound coloration? No thank you. That is one of my biggest pet-peeves! At one point before I was really focused on sound quality, I needed to get some speakers for my desktop at home. I went to Walmart and picked...- ab initio

Any point running balanced headphone output from amp when source is SE?
If the balanced amp is essentially two single-ended amps with one amp's polarity reversed, then you would have double the output impedance of the equivalent singled ended version. The current has to go through both amp sections to complete the circuit; hence, two amplifier outputs in series. In...- ab initio

Possible ground loop issue?
For starters, what happens if you test your outlet with a outlet tester? Does everything check out? Cheers
