Space Key - ESS Sabre32 DSD/DXD USB DAC campaign on Kickstarter
Is anyone aware of any similar bargains for around £75-89 GBP (as per the Space Key's two lowest tiers) that deliver a bang for buck performance ? I'm aware of Centrance's Dacport, which doesn't use a Sabre chip and the Dragonfly Black, which I found a bit too rounded off and not much of an...- _azoth_

Space Key - ESS Sabre32 DSD/DXD USB DAC campaign on Kickstarter
I concur, that would have been better. Specs ARE enticing, though I guess it all depends on how successfully it will be implemented. And yes the wait is a pain, but it is a Kickstarter so that development timeline is kind of implied for all projects.- _azoth_

Space Key - ESS Sabre32 DSD/DXD USB DAC campaign on Kickstarter
[Mods - feel free to delete this if there's a policy about linking to Kickstarter campaigns. FULL DISCLOSURE - I am a backer because it seems like a decent device for the investment]. Space Audio, who have made a few portable DACs already : ...- _azoth_

Rockit Sounds R-50 Reviews and Impressions
I'd like to try some other tips - I've tried Phonak's grey silicon ones. Same deal. I could buy more but then I'm adding money to a phone that so far has been less than stellar (for me). Speaking of the Phonaks, some people say they're sibilant, but I didn't find them to be - they're like...- _azoth_

Rockit Sounds R-50 Reviews and Impressions
I'm really trying to like these but I'm finding the sibilance just overwhelms EVERYTHING. Every type of music, every gender of vocalist, all SSS like mad, as do cymbals and drum machines. What's more the 'tinnyness' bleeds into other frequencies and coats everything like a layer of something, in...- _azoth_

Are there any nice circumaural closed headphones that aren't bass-tastic ?
I'd say about 200 GBP. How are T5Ps for isolation ? They don't fully enclose your ears I thought.- _azoth_

Are there any nice circumaural closed headphones that aren't bass-tastic ?
Hello knowledgeable head-fiers, I was in the Apple store yesterday and got a chance to test some full sized headphones, some based on reading mostly positive reviews on Head-Fi, Inner Fidelity and the like. I'm looking for full size closed phones that I can use on my train commute and at the...- _azoth_

Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Thread
I was wondering about this too. My PFE 112s are almost dead and I use them without a filter (for a more treble heavy sound). I also have the RE-0 as I enjoy the analytical nature of both phones. Now, the TF10s are priced competitively on Amazon and the Hifiman RE262s and 272s are available...- _azoth_

Phonak Audeo (PFE) Thread
I just got the new revision. My thoughts: - The cable is definitely more microphonic than the old one (due to the added thickness ?). It varies depending on the clothes you wear - synthetic jackets are terrible, but softer more organic fabrics are much better. - The stem that you attach...- _azoth_

Phonak Audeo (PFE) Thread
Can anyone comment whether they find the PFEs more comfortable to wear than an ER4Ps ? I use my PFEs with Complys and without a gray or a black filter (I think it makes the sound considerably 'clearer' rather than attenuating select frequencies like the filters do), but have been recently...- _azoth_

Phonak Audeo Defect Thread
UPDATE: Apparently the plastics thing with the enclosure cracking was a problem with the first two batches manufactured. Phonak have changed the injection mould and the material mixture to stop cracks developing.- _azoth_

Phonak Audeo Defect Thread
I recently spoke to a Phonak rep about the revisions in version 2 and was told that the new revision has improved cabling (I'm guessing to fix the sweat crystallising issue) and the soldering within the earphone body has also been improved (which is good because the wire enclosures seem super...- _azoth_

An analytical, balanced IEM with good treble/clarity ?
OK I think I have made a decision, and I have you guys to thank for it. I will most likely be getting an ER4S or and ER4P with an S converter. They seem like such a benchmark IEM even decades after their release that they must be doing something right, the ER4S is close enough to the PFEs...- _azoth_

An analytical, balanced IEM with good treble/clarity ?
I'm leaning towards an ER4P with an S adapter - that way I can power them with an amp and without. An RE0 sounds tempting, but I'm thinking of going with Ety just for the reputation (and the build quality). Are the internals of the ER4P and ER4S the same other than some added impedance ...- _azoth_
