The Hifiman RE2000 - a high end dynamic IEM

Thanks for the reply! So are they competitive with current offerings in the $500-$600 range? Was thinking about picking up the Moondrop Variations or FatFreq Mini Maestro instead since I’m a bit of a basshead.

The Hifiman RE2000 - a high end dynamic IEM

Thanks, I appreciate the reply! Lots of very polarized opinions on these. I’m only just now scratching the surface of iems. Will have to check out the top list.

FATfreq Impressions Thread - Bass Cannons and More

Is this a lot better than the hifiman re2000? I saw that on sale for $350 so it seems like a good deal. I realize they’re several years old now though, does current stuff in the $500 range totally destroy the flagships from ~2015-2020?

The Hifiman RE2000 - a high end dynamic IEM

Are these still a good value at the sale price of $350 when compared to other sub-500 iems on the market these days?

So I’ve had my new GH50 JM for a few weeks now, been putting it through the paces daily. I was a little unimpressed at first, but that was because I had the fit all wrong and think they needed some burn-in. All in all though I’m really happy with them. They are definitely a step above...

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

The E12 should be plenty. The A3 might not produce the best results. I used one a few years ago with the legendary SZ2000K, and found it lacking. Got much better results from a Cayin C5 shortly after. I think that’s pretty close to an E12, but it’s been a while. I use a hip dac now and max...

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

That’s awesome! The big planars produce bass in a very special way, they’re hard to beat due to the sheer volume of air they move, even if they don’t have as much “impact” as you might get from a smaller dynamic headphone. Monoprice has some very good headphones for the money. I had an...

For extreme bass, E-Mu Teak (or other wood) all the way. Fostex TH-X00 if you don’t mind buying used. On the less extreme but still satisfactory side of things, I might recommend: Hifiman Sundara closed Monoprice M1070C Kennerton Magni

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

For sure, I bet the closed sundara sounds great. I had an ananda last year and it was able to produce fantastic basshead levels of bass with EQ. Excellent rumble, slam, extension, and quality. Those big egg shaped drivers are awesome for bass. I just didn’t care for its imaging and tonality...

So hifiman cables work with the GH50? I want to get a hifiman-marketed 4 pin xlr to dual 3.5 mm to use with my Jot2 and GH50. That’ll work right?

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

I’ve always read that the XC is bass light in stick form but responds well to EQ. You might just need something like +20 dB to really get it there. I ultimately went with a GH50 since it has a bass boost built in with its stock frequency response. I have a monoprice m1570c as well and it...

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

Well about +10 from the ifi and +12 from the Loki, it’s an additive effect. I do actually prefer just the jot2 with the Loki these days though even if it’s not as much quantity. The ifi just doesn’t have the same level of control and slam. It just makes the bass louder, muddier, and is less...
