Sony just put this rather "mysterious" picture on their official site in China

http://www.sonystyle.com.cn/products/headphone/index.htm

Something alone the line of "1,500 days of anticipation" and then "Sony's BRAND NEW milestone about to be revealed" on the second line.

So far the speculations were revolving around the successor of their Z1000 or the legendary R10, either Z2000 or R100 but nothing concrete whatsoever. More likely to be closed back based on that picture with adjusted contrast.

I certainly hope this thread would be moved to the Summit-Fi section since Nomax was already briefly talking about something similar before

Wow, definitely going to keep track of this story. Hopefully a R10 successor, 65 mm drivers certainly have me interested.

Page Update: http://www.sonystyle.com.cn/products/headphone/14fall.htm

Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to translate the meaningful and new information on that page.

URL says fall 2014 which would suggest that it is either going to be announced or released fall this year.

Source of the "?" image is mdr_yure/images/img4.jpg

I would pay attention to this URL: http://www.sonystyle.com.cn/products/headphone/mdr_yure.htm
That matches the formatting used for other headphones. It may become an active page.

Japanese - English for Yure: flickering, joltle, tremor, vibration

Seems very likely the name is Sony MDR Yure.

So these share the same DNA as the R10, Qualia and... EX1000...
