Noble x and Noble Savanna

X is too bass heavy to be considered flat no? Not basshead, but not flat by any means, right?

Can one get a Savanna for $300 new?

846 isnt flat either, for reference.

That's what I wanted to do, but someone told me that I might as well just get the 535 if I don't get an Amp/DAC because I wouldn't be using the 846 to its full potential... so far the Chord Mojo and Oppo-HA2 seems to be the 2 best portable devices to complement the 846

I can't recommend the iPhone -> DragonFly Red -> SE846 pairing enough. You don't need to spend $500-600 to get 99% of it's fullest potential.

I had the chance to audition the 535 at a dealer a few weeks ago. I was coming from the 215s and I tried the 425s and then the 535s. I sat in a little corner trying to weigh my options and decide which way to go. I was disappointed in the 425s and then tried the 535s (normal ones not the LEs). I didn't feel anything for them either. They sounded clear and nice but not mind blowing - staging was also good but again nothing to shout about. In the end I left quite disappointed without buying anything. I went back to the store a week after and went all the way and bought the 846s without testing them and prayed that my 970(Euros) were well worth it. Well they were and if you can afford them then do not hesitate the difference is day and night. The 535s are the best version of the series up until the 846s where they are in another league. In my opinion there is no comparison between the two. Absolutely none. Go for the 846s you will not regret it!

Oh, man, dude. You can get them new for like $700-800 USD easy if you know where to look.

What are the give-aways that they are fake? I've been looking on eBay and there are some odd looking SE846's. Was looking to buy a used set.

If you buy the clear ones you can generally be assured that they're the real deal. It's the colored ones that people go through the effort of faking. Too hard to fake the clear ones and the drivers.

To each his or her own. EarphoneSolutions has always been fantastic. You can get them for $700 there as long as you call their number and ask for the deal.

Is this legit? Seems odd that you can just call and get a $300 dollar discount, and is there any chance they are sending out fakes?

There is 0 chance they are sending out fakes. They are an authorized Shure dealer. And I've been very good about finding fakes in the market on eBay for SE535LTD models, and making/selling those fakes is much easier to pull off since they're opaque. Believe me, if anyone can determine if something is a fake, it's me.

Wow, thanks for the tip!! I was literally at Guitar Center today to pick up the 846, but they were out of stock. So do I just call and ask about some special?
