I was planning to get an M2s anytime soon but happen upon a preloved M5 at practically the same price. Now I have second thoughts on the M2s. Will the M5 be a bad choice over the new M2s? thoughts?

Quoting myself because I just got the M5. I figured I can get the M2s anytime but it's hard to find a good deal on an M5. :) I can't wait!

I picked an M5 up used, and have not regretted it one bit. I currently have an M2s on hand and am doing a comparison with several others. The M5 is the standard by which I judge them all. Best of luck!

That means a lot - to consider M5 your standard for judging DAPs! Looking forward for your thoughts on them!

Yeah, M5 is still great player, I really like mine with Noble Sage.

Also, even though our galss screens on our new players looks amazing, there is something nice about that carbon fibre

Indeed. That carbon back is a really nice feature. Makes me want to keep the M5 out of the leather case all the time...

I really hope you guys are planning to create an upgrade for it sometime in the near future! M5 deserves more!

M5 is like a cult classic, IMO. One I would like to see get the rep it deserves as a viable option in the mid-fi market...For just listening to music, it is stellar.

The latest version of the firmware fixed a shutdown bug that would occur when the scroll wheel lock was not active when the screen was turned off. At least this was a problem for some users (myself included) up until a few months ago!

Is anyone using this with a 256GB card or is it limited to 128GB? It's tough to tell with the published specs for many players, as often it's just the max card size available at the time they are launched which is listed.

Running 200 GB in mine, no problem. 256 should be fine too.

I have been running a Samsung 256GB card in my M5 for a few months with no issues
