My venerable, trusty, and legendary Canon 1D. The last of Canon's best CCD based dSLR. I had many dSLRs in the past going all the way back to Canon D2000...but I still prefer to shoot with my trusty Canon 1D.

The 1D looks liek a rugged setup.
I got to admit, I've got hooked on lenses (luckily I haven't spent all my money on them yet!)

I guess I'm kinda old school:

Hassleblad 500C
40,80,300 Zeiss glass

Cambo Wide 4x5
65mm Schneider

Noblex 120 Panoramic

Cambo Legend 4x5 kit

I spend more on processing and stock costs in a week of shooting than a very nice digital (>$2,500)

I have a mix of old school and modern stuff

24-70 f/2.8L
70-200 f/4L
50 f/1.8 (mkII)
85 f/1.8

Sure is rugged. I dropped the camera on a concrete floor 2x there is a small dent on the corner and it's still shooting strong. I shoot it in the rain. I took it to overseas many times in rain, mud, etc...and it's unstoppable...I hope

Ehh, what's that you have attached to it, some 28-75 and a Metz flash? I think it's high time to upgrade to a 24-70L and a 580EX...

I used to own a large photo studio few years ago with several partners and had every "L" lenses up to 400mm. Now, I decided to pair it down to two modest yet excellent lenses (Tameron 28-75mm2.8, Canon 70-300mmIS), my original Metz, and my trusty 1D

I am very happy with this modest setup....like my head-fi gears...old, yet still excellent

I had a Nikkormat FTn and an EL... replaced those with a Pentax LX and a selection of lenses from the wonderful rectilinear 17mm to a 300mm A*. Also Pentax 6X7, and a 67II, with a selection of lenses from 45mm to 300mm. Starting in 1999 I kept my eye on the digital field, as I do a lot of Web presentations and scanning film was a real time-sink. Finally bought a Canon Powershot G2 as a stand-in in 2002.

The final step was buying a Canon 1D Mark 2 in November 2004. I like this camera a lot. Quick, reliable, predictable. I've picked up a 20mm wide, 50mm macro, 85mm portrait, 100mm macro, and most recently a 24-70 zoom. I bought that one because the 20mm was too wide, and I couldn't find the 35mm I wanted. I've since learned to like the zoom, especially for sand sculptures that are of unpredictable dimensions. I like having the ability to vary the shots.
