I wonder if using the JDSLabs O2 + ODAC Would give the X2's a more Neutral tone. Im using the X2's on an astro mixamp and it gives a nice hint of a dark sound signature.

I use them with a Meier Corda Jazz and they sound better than when I use them with the Schiit Vali 2

The O2 amp section is really good and a very nice pairing with the X2's imo. My impression of the dac section on the same unit was pretty underwhelming tbh......

Is anybody who compares X2 against Sony MDR-Z7?
I think nowadays Dynamic drivers have come back to main stage like Focal Utopia, MDR-Z1R, Nighthawk, or etc.
Because the acoustic engineering becomes more practical with good Finite element analysis for acoustic field analysis with respect to acoustic chamber and the driver.
The dynamic drivers have its own merits like high energy density compared to other drivers, and also air flow smoothness being guaranteed, and hence the phones become lighter and well engineered to be well balanced across the full spectrum range.
One of them is X2, which has smaller driver size to Z7.
It will be interesting technical comparison.

Some of u may disagree, but i'm actually starting to believe in "Driver Burn-In for headphones. I know i repeated this, but i received my philips x2 just 4 days ago, and they were very sibilant. It was really insane, and i thought about returning them. But after 32hours + of burn in so far the sibilance just disappeared like magic lol. They sound great so far, and hopefully they improve more after 100+hours :D

I tend to believe in burn-in for anything with a speaker. Guitar amp speakers are known to be sold with factory burn-in. My X2s definitely sounded better after 100 hours or so, I bought them slightly used so I think they already had a head start by the time I got them.

They definitely improved since i first received mine. They sounded very shy at first, especially the mids. They started to open :).

Hi, I'm currently looking for a shorter headphone cable for my X2; would this be okay?

Or any recommendations? I usually go with Anker cables, but I like the look of the Sennheiser one...

Thanks :)

Ghent that's a member of this community too, can customize it for free (mine has a 3.5 to a side and 6.3 to the other),

That one is for the HD5XX series that have a 2.5mm jack. You need one with 3.5mm for the X2's, this is standard for aux cables so it should be very easy to find one.

Noice.. The big 3.5mm isn't too big or heavy on the earcup? I got an 3.5mm male to 6.35 female from Ghent, nice item. Might have to look into getting one of these for my X2

Actually not you can hardly notice that, plus it's a thick cable but quite flexible so I found it very comfortable much better than the original one
