Onkyo DP-S1 Rubato / Pioneer XDP-30R Private

Which Dap do you prefer and why of the two above?
Both sound good on the go, I've only had the XDP-30R 6 hours so difficult to say on sound. On OS the XDP-30R its a simple dream compaired the X5iii Fiio player or Neutron. On features the X5iii wins i.e. off line streamed music DLNA connection. But LOVE the hold switch so 80's ipod:blush:

Has any one got a aluminum frame case DPA-ABP1(B), is it any good?

Been trying to read through this as I was considering the Pioneer, but wanted to make sure on a few things.

  1. The Japan version does not have Tidal and can't update to get it?
  2. Does the US version have offline support for Tidal?
  3. Is there a USB Dac/Amp feature. I haven't seen it anywhere, but wanted to check.

No non Android or iOS Tidal will ever get offline play. A&K said it was due to licensing with the music labels so if offline is important than you need to get an Android or iOS device.

While it can do USB Audio out to a separate amp/DAC, I haven't seen or heard any plan to add in support to act as a DAC itself hooked up to another device or a PC.

Thank you so much for the info. I am currently using a Cayin N3 and then my phone for Tidal. Will probably stick with a similar setup for the time being.

As I've said a few posts earlier I'm expecting mine these few days, will report when I have it with me.

No it can't. The Pioneer has a different shape than the Onkyo. It has a angled bottom right edge while the Onkyo has a normal rectangle shape.

I also noticed a lot of the pioneer cases are square... And aside from the cut corner, I don't think button or charger positions are different. I ended up ordering the PU onkyo case to be safe, but I will always wonder whether or not it would have fit.

The Onkyo case is nothing special but still very nice. The Onkyo logo etched at the back is a nice touch.

So I got the Pioneer and I have couple of questions not covered in the manual:

Does anyone knows if you can specify "resume" position? After the player is restarted, it loses the track it was playing.

How can you enable USB out? Again, not on the manual.

It doesn't have a resume position feature.

For USB audio out, hook up the turned on amp/DAC to a powered off XDP-30R, turn on the Pioneer. Choose a song then select the 3 dots to the right of the song title on the play screen. Choose the top left most option of play triangle with 3 waves, select USB audio out.
