Trade in program offering 2200 usd for ak380 cu and ak380amp cu to be used for purchasing new sp1000.
Is it worth it?

Who is offering the trade? I have an ak380 and might want to take that offer too.

Dude, im here for the love of music, i will not listen to something i do not like just because its better recorded and mastered. ACDC is ok but too soft for my liking. Also just because i listen to only metal does not mean high end gear is not worth it for me, there's a lot of people on here with multi thousand dollar rigs just for metal and even some using Stax. Buying a Chord mojo was one of the best choices i made for my large metal collection.

Id be grateful if someone could listen to this track on SP1000 and let me know how it sounds. Thanks

Testing between the AK320 and SP1000 using Tidal Hifi and MrSpeakers AEON single ended. The differences are subtle but noticeable. The most obvious difference to me is slightly better separation and blacker background on the SP1000. This leads to better imaging and (the illusion of?) a slightly bigger sound stage. There's also a sibilance spike on the AK320 that's not there on the SP1000. The differences are subtle but noticeable and I'd definitely rather be listening on the SP1000.

Is ak380 to sp1000 a huge or considerable upgrade?

To me, the SP1000 *feels* like a much nicer unit than the 3 series. It's got a much nicer screen and the snappy, snazzy UI is a pleasure to use. Plus I love that huge button/dial on the side that's shaped like a watch crown and has a nice tactile feedback to it. The fact that it also sounds slightly better is icing on the cake. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a balanced cable at some point so I can test that output as well; early reports say it sounds even better.

Is all that worth a few grand to you? Only you can make that decision.

Very curious to try out the SP1000 at Canjam London. It's totally out of any budget I could imagine stretching but still, I wonder how it would pair with the LCD-i4. If it could do 15h on FLAC that'd be fine by me. I admit I'm a sucker for fast snappy UI experience. Gotta be as fast scrolling as the DP-X1.

Changes to the 20 band parametric EQ is very subtle, as it can make very fine adjustments to the sound. Even though changes cannot be audibly heard, the changes are there when heard and analyzed by professionals such as mastering engineers and producers.

Very unprofessional of them to say that only mastering engineers and producers can hear the difference of their EQ. But that is not even the real problem. The real problem is they are not ready to acknowledge that their EQ is ineffective. So chances are they would not invest any time, money and effort to fix or improve it.

now that we can connect an external SSD to the SP1000, we need to find a small portable SSD that has a very low power consumption. Indeed, SSD draw much more power than people think !

At home I have a 1 Tb Samsung T3 Portable SSD connected to my ARIES. At 51 grammes it is very very small but... I do not know it's power consumption ?
I will test in July with the SP1000.

Why not using a Sandisk Extreme Pro SDXC 512 GB in OTG mode? Definitely needs very little power to run.

Use a OTG cable and a USB 3.0 card reader and should work.
